OK, I'll bite.

If I were you, I'd steer clear of Marines in general--at least infantry bitz. There are already many established companies peddling parts so it would be tougher to establish yourself into the market. Plus, these sorts of sculpts are also the kind of thing that is most likely to infringe on GW's IP as well. Contrary to what some have said here, you CAN infringe on IP even if you sculpt everything yourself. It has to look appreciably different aesthetically too.

That said, I agree that there would be a market for Dreadnought parts. Pre-heresy styled sarcophagi would likely be pretty popular and I agree with others who said a pair of longer legs would be good options. You could also do arms that had more believable Dreadnought Close Combat weapons (more realistic armored gauntlets for instance --the current ones don't even look like the dreadnought would be able to grasp anything in those stubby fingers). BA players now have a Furioso model which comes with blood talons, but I'd imagine that there would be quite a lot of interest if you created some pre-heresy style talons based off of the type of LC the Emperor had in that famous painting of the Emperor vs. Horus. You could also do a more believable seismic hammer for the Ironclad. I know a lot of people are not really that happy about those. Pre-heresy themed autocannon arms would also do well I'd think. So yeah, I think you'd get a lot of interest in a large robot kit whose parts "just happened" to be interchangeable with a dreadnought.

Beyond that, Generic Sci-Fi troopers that could fit well in an Inquisition force would also likely be popular. I know there's been a lot of buzz down in the =I= forum about the Inquisitor Henchmen options in this codex, but the lack of models for them makes it unfeasible for most people to field an =I= heavy force. This is also an opportunity to do something with the "flavor of 40K" without getting anywhere near GW's IP. Deathcult Assassin stand-in models in particular would probably be very popular. There are only 2 existing GW models for them and DCAs are a very powerful unit in game terms which is a good recipe for success if you manage to get some quality minis sculpted up for them. Besides who wouldn't like a few Dark Gothic Ninjas for their collection? :P

You might also consider vehicle upgrades. I have yet to see a third-party Las-plas turret that actually looks nice.

For other races and factions, you are correct that there's a market developing for Haemonculi-themed DE stuff. I think a lot of people would like some variety in their Wracks and Grotesques. Tyranids are missing a lot of models, but a lot of people have apparently stopped playing their 'Nids after the last codex came out so that market may not be the best one to tap at the moment. There are also rumors they may be getting a second wave sometime in the near future anyway. Guard players are looking for conversion parts for Vets and Stormtroopers (I'd say tie this in with the =I= henchmen stuff from earlier.)

So pretty much I'd say Dreadnoughts, Inquisitorial Henchmen models, and Haemonculi stuff would be the hot items currently.

What a fantastic well thought out post. Your thoughts have been duly noted. Keep up these great posts guys. I am really starting to get a good idea of what you are after. Almost at a third page of posts, as soon as we get there I will put up a personal sculpt I am working on at the moment to give you guys some idea of what type of quality we are looking at although anything meant for sale will be another level above what I am doing for myself. I have already started to source manufacturers and pressure boxes (molds) so there is a very good chance of this happening

I cannot stress how much this is apprecaiated though guys and please feel free to repeat other comments ideas as that shows me which models really have the demand and should be tended to first.

Thank you all so far.

Adeptus Custodes seems liek a great Idea also.

This sounds like a great idea. Even though there are other sites like Scibor and MicroArt studio it cant hurt to have another company making GW compatible stuff. I would say that for me I like the idea of shoulder pads and helmets sculpted with specific themes(like animals, cultures), or running legs. Pretty much any other parts that could give your army more variety. Other than that I am pretty much a SM freak and cant get into anything else so I dont know of any other things that would be good for other races.

Hope that helps.

This has great potential.

I would first go through every codex and find what models GW hasn't made or need updating, such as a Wolf Priest, Thunderwolves, and a host of special characters. Also, I might make generic chapter master, a set of sprues for plastic HQs in terminator and power armor. I would then go into specialist type things, and no, I don't mean Specialist Games, like Custodes or Sisters of Silence.

What about making certain models for Rogue Trader (the RPG) and, by extension, Dark Heresy? A multipart Rogue Trader (complete with epaullettes and high collar) would be sweet. Just a thought...

I'm sure most people(myself included) would love to see some newer versions of old character models like Abaddon, Dante, Mephiston, Tycho, Calgar in power armor, etc, but that would be very hard to do and not cause infringement. Just off the top of my head, I would love to see better looking scouts. The old metal ones by Jes were awesome and every time I see a box of the new ones at my LGS it just makes me cringe. Mostly from the heads, I think. Regular marine legs in different poses would be nice, too.

But I would think some of the most popular items wouldn't be for marines - they're GW's cash cow and they take pretty good care of them. What are the non-marine things that people want, usually in large quantities, multi-part kits, or both, that currently only come in metal and are very expensive?

How about some of the inquisitorial henchmen for the new GK codex? Multi-part Death Cult Assassin kits that are obviously not dark eldar would be great.

Multi-part or just updated minis for eldar exarch troops, especially Warp Spiders and Dark Reapers. An improved jetbike model that doesn't look like a space elf Hell's Angel(complete with leather jacket). Once upon a time, I almost bought a bunch of DE bikes from what are now the old models, to try to convert the jetbikes, but thought better after looking at what it would cost me.

Better looking Bloodthirster, Keeper of Secrets, and Plaguebearers.

Plaguemarines and Khorne Berzerkers that don't look comical(I know, FW makes some, but those awesome resin upper bodies look odd on the bleh legs beneath).

Fenrisian wolves, for packs as well as mounts.

And personally, I would be all over some dreadnought stuff, especially more ornate, venerable or pre-heresy looking stuff. Gun arms, like left and right handed twin autocannons that actually MATCH(I'm looking at you, FW), conversion bits like new legs(I always wanted some ED-209-like chicken walker legs), new sarcophagus types, more bling to decorate them with, etc.

Hear you loud and clear mate. Am adding to this long list. Great to see double ups of ideas, makes deciding what is needed much easier.

Space Marine legs in better poses, and various almost GW armor marks.

Chaos Space Marine Terminator Lord style Lightning Claws in a Loyalist theme, both for Terminators and models in Power Armor.

For the most part people have suggested what I would suggest, just wanted to reiterate the better leg poses for SMs, so you knew the interest in that was high. :)

How were you thinking about distributing these sculpted items?

@ Crynn

Did you ask at other Forums whats "needed"? Spreading your query will let people know what you are doing and give less "focused" results.

As this is a Power Armor/SM Forum the result may be biased.

And please do some Wraithguard :) .
