Kthulu returns

what I have learnt from the weekend is at 1,750pts a player gets a serious amount of firepower, as most people just take their 1,500pts list and throw extra killy stuff instead of extra infantry etc.

1,750pts is such a different ball game I have found Rhinos just can't compete like they can at 1,500pts, so I will be changing my list somewhat and adding a Landraider to my planned list now.

We live and learn eh!

I guess when it comes to protecting Rhinos (and even other vehicles) I couldn’t do any better than how Meatman and James from BWG protected theirs:

I don't play Chaos but I've always though Abbadon should be harder then a very hard thing that is hard :(
thats why i "laugh" at the GK dex, lysander, calgar, abaddon, typhus.. all kids when compared to the previously unheard of draigo

whats that about?

Yeah, it’s a sad thing, although I don’t use Abaddon (I’ve struggled to find a reason to proxy him in my army’s background) he’s not the biggest, baddest character in gaming terms. In fact, he’s considered a bit of a joke; at our Bury St Edmunds gaming group, there’s a Chaos player who uses him, just for the sheer amusement of seeing him slay himself with his daemon weapon. Now that just strikes me as wrong.

well deserved best army for you firestorm40k, I'll try and bring something less hated next time
i can see why firestorm40k walked away with the best painted army, they looked amazing! i only wish i saw them on the day

Thanks very much gentlemen :) I was very pleased to win, I have put a lot of effort in to this army over the last few yeras; but there were other armies which were contenders for the award too - I think your Grey Knights were superb, you're clearly one of these painters who makes that standard of painting look easy! :P These pictures don't do the army justice, but they're the best that I got:

Rory Snell had obviously put a lot of effort and commitment in to his Ultras too:

I think that the biggest compliment I got for my army that day - other than the prize, of course! - was something Owen, the nice lad who won the wooden spoon, said to me. He was looking at them as I set my miniatures out and he said 'you can see the story in each one.' Now there speaks a lad who really gets what the hobby's about! ;) :)

I came nowhere this year and that doesnt bother me. My army wasnt competative and while I would have liked to win I wasnt there to win. I went to have a good time and throw down with my gaming buddies of the last 3 years or so since I likely wont be seeing them again.

I had a really good time and enjoyed all my battles. That close fought draw against the blood angels. Blowing away those 2 dreadknights and out manouvering a draigowing to claim my only victory of the day. My abysmal shooting vs the Black Templars and my tactical squads stubborn resistance vs the Angels Sanguine all made for a fun and interesting day.

I have to say I was also chuffed that my army won a prize in the painting. It means I now have more torso's with nipples to embarres my marines

Again, many thanks to GC08 for organising and arranging the whole thing.

and my tactical squads stubborn resistance vs the Angels Sanguine

It was a ridiculously stubborn Tac Squad! Not forgetting your close combat savvy devastator...

Yip, lugging around a plasma cannon all day makes you big and strong. Plus he always eats all his greens :)

Looks like a great time was had by all guys. Seeing how much fun this event is really makes me think about coming back to the hobby (and finally learning to play). Some great painted armies, and well done to all who took part.

your not far from me, if you ever want a game, just let me know :)
