thade
So, I've got easily a baker's dozen PAGK back from when the Ally rules were still in effect; the old metal ones. They ALL have Nemesis Force Halberds (of course) but with the new Dex and the new options I might like to model some other weapons (as I slowly build playable-army mass). My question is this: How different in size are the new PAGK vs the old PAGK. Can I get away with sticking a new plastic psicannon or pair of short swords on one of the old metal bodies? Has anyone done this? How's it working out? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231279-oop-models-and-the-new-kits-intermixing/ Share on other sites
Flinch
Pair of swords would be a little more difficult, as the metal ones are in 2 pieces. The body with storm bolter and a shoulder with halberd (sword for justicar). The only conversions I did were to cut off the blade of the halberd and make them into daemonhammers. As far as size goes, the new swords are definately longer/bigger, noticeably bigger than the old justicar's sword. The way I can best explain it is this: I have one unit of 5 PAGK, 2 new guys with new psycannons and 3 with halberds. I can really only tell the difference on the table because of the weight of plastic vs metal and the look of the psycannons. All in all, they mesh together 'well enough' for the table top. If you are one of those people who say things like "its not good enough because I'll know" then making them match may not be for you. But if you are like the other 90% of gamers, you'll get a surprise every time you pick up a plastic GK cause you'll be expecting it to be a metal one. Hope this rambling helps a bit. Not too much, but a bit. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231279-oop-models-and-the-new-kits-intermixing/#findComment-2781859 Share on other sites
thade
I'm embarrassed; I totally forgot the metal bodies had only one open arm (the SBs are part of the mold). Funny. The pieces are in my kit RIGHT NEXT TO MY FOOT and I didn't think to gaze upon them while musing. Well, I can always try a match or two with a mass of halberds; people will recognize me for being old fashioned. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231279-oop-models-and-the-new-kits-intermixing/#findComment-2781881 Share on other sites
Nian
I am in the process of modifying many of my old GK PA metal minis. I have already replaced several nfh's for nfs's. For a basic striker squad, swords are the way for me. As long as you have the bits, just take the whole arm off and use a plastic arm, shoulder plate and a right hand falchion. Don't modify the original nemesis force halberd arms at all, you can use them with your plastic mini's, also if you have allot of old metal guys, you would know all your justicars have swords. If they aren't a basic striker squad, then you will want to go with halberd. Its a straight swap from sword to halberd. As for putting on plastic psycannons and incinerators on metal minis, you will need a jeweller saw. Some guys are harder to do than others, if you examine the poses you will see certain set poses are better for modification, just carefully saw them off at the shoulder, in a similar position as to where the right hand arm would attach. You will find that if done right, you could use the old storm bolter arm on a new plastic. Makes for some interesting looks. BTW, Green Stuff will be useful but if done right its not a must. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GERMAN-STYLE-JE...=item336858668f Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231279-oop-models-and-the-new-kits-intermixing/#findComment-2782005 Share on other sites
