Agreed, granted I didnt go theu The Warstore, I bought mine from Ebay, but I think back when I bought my missile launchers for my first long fangs, I got the Cadian launchers for like $1.50 per 3. Not sure what they are going for now, but I would go that route again, if I hadnt lucked out and got 15 Long Fangs w/ missile launchers off Dakka for a good price.

I used the missile launchers from scout packs, devastator squads, and drop pods. specialy the drop pods look überawesome. just a little bit of cutting and they fit over a bolter or plasmapistol.

answer me this: is there anything more impressive and suiting for a long fang, than to walk up to the field of battle bearing a deathwind missile launcher single handed?

The IG ML looks quite a bit like the 2nd Ed SM ML when modified, great for Long Fangs due to them being old buggers anyway.

Also, if you take a rhino storm bolter gunner arms & an HK ML from the rhino sprue, lop off the right arm & cut the peg from the top of the SB grip at an angle, then glue either a predator targetter or the HKM targetter onto the tube it works well, can post a pic of a WIP w/ one of these if you're interested.

But ML spam is the more versatile list. Almost as good at anti-infantry as HBs, and anti-mech as LCs. And better than HBs against Mech and LCs against troops.

ver-sa-tile (vûrs-tl, -tl) adj.

1. Capable of doing many things competently.

2. Having varied uses or serving many functions: "The most versatile of vegetables is the tomato" (Craig Claiborne).

I think a diversified Long Fangs Pack is the most versatile, but what's in the pack should depend on what you're coming up against. There may be no need to be diversified weapons, all HB vs non mech Orks, all PC vs non mech Marines, all LC vs all mech whatever etc. I never saw the appeal of just missles though.

Oh, and no mister Claiborne, it's the Potato ;)

I'll take 4X ML over 2X LC and 2X HB any day. That said I agree with part of your statement, the MLs form the basis for the LF pack, which can then be re-equipped based on the army I will be facing. 4X ML becomes 2X or 3X ML and 1 or 2 LCs against a mech army for example.

Lastly, the Clairborne quote came with the cut/paste definition. Personnally, I'm a "Pork fat rules" kind of guy.

Personally I don't like tailoring my list. I take one list for both points levels I play regularly (1500 and 1750) the missile launcher is the jack of all trades. Without a doubt against the pure paladin army I wished I 'd got 15 lascannons rather than 15 missile launchers but against Dark Eldar those points would have been wasted, same with against a razorback unit.

Does anyone have a picture of the cadian missile launcher being used for long fangs? I have about 30 of these just laying around and might put some to use.

sad update I know... am I the only one who works at a single model for one or two weeks at a time?

gallery_24878_5748_134736.jpggallery_24878_5748_28239.jpg

this time by next year I'm sure I'll be done the rest of his pack LOL

gallery_24878_5748_90686.jpggallery_24878_5748_28624.jpg

still have allot to touch up on the guy, clean him up a bit

gallery_24878_5748_102647.jpggallery_24878_5748_73775.jpg

so what do you all think? I'm thinking he's about 70% done, but I can let him be right now if I'm feeling lazy. It's just that my OCD is saying he's only 70% done. Just saying!

--EDIT--

C & C are welcomed. Thank you for looking!
