Azza007
What is the best model for these mighty beasts do people use? I recently read about Armies on Parade in White Dwarf, and having recently purchased the Great Wolf, Logan Grimnar himself, I wanted to go about and complete my small Wolf guard army, using all the models I currently have. Possibly even attempt to represent each Wolf Lord. In creating this small force I was hoping to have some pet wolves running alongside the Wolves. Now the full circle has come about, so just what are the best models to use? Forté
Chaos Warhounds with some GS work. They look feral and a good size too. Goblin wolves at just too small and child friendly. And welcome too. Don't mind Maverik...he's just an old kranky grey beard ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231468-fenrisian-wolves/#findComment-2784462 Share on other sites
Azza007
Thanks for the welcome guys, though have been a SW players for a few years, I just rarely post. This is really just a small project on the side lines of my huge SW force already, I believe I am nearing 5000pts already. As to the search function, I did use it but didn't really find anything that answered my question. Wulfebane
Chaos Warhounds with some GS work. They look feral and a good size too. Here's an example. This was my attempt at Fen. wolves after seeing someone else's designs through a random google (which have subsequently disappeared from the intarwebs). Obviously, until GW makes actual models, I vote on Chaos Warhounds. Red Wolf
I find the Fenris Wolves set from Gamezoneminiatures look excellent and fits perfectly with a SW army. http://gamezoneminiatures.de/media/catalog/product/cache/7/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/i/m/image_6045.jpg http://gamezoneminiatures.de/media/catalog/product/cache/7/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/i/m/image_6049.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231468-fenrisian-wolves/#findComment-2785186 Share on other sites
Wulfebane
I find the Fenris Wolves set from Gamezoneminiatures look excellent and fits perfectly with a SW army. Except the fur looks like someone wrapped a sponge around the mini.. or glued tree foliage flocking to them. And the top two have leopard tails or something. Look like whiffle bats. I'd also say the legs are way too stubby, but the chaos warhounds aren't much better. To each is on, but I agree with Wulfe, they aren't much to look at. Max_Dammit
You cant use those on a army on parade. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231468-fenrisian-wolves/#findComment-2785338 Share on other sites
Azza007
I'm not planning on using it for Armies on Parade, more of a personal one. I don't think I would ever complete it in time anyway, more of an inspiration piece. Shadow warrior
Hello, These wolfs are the best models i have seen that I like. Don't have them (yet) but if i have money these are the ones. they dont have to big legs or body they are not puppy-like and not like a mad dog. you can even buy them in sets and stuff, here have a look (its just one of three) Possible Fenrasian wolf Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231468-fenrisian-wolves/#findComment-2785492 Share on other sites
Nrthstar
The link works, just delete out the two extra https://. On a side note why this is an https is beyond me. It's minis, not a bank. But on topic, the wolves don't look too shabby, they'd even match up win the two wolves I use from wizkids. Edit: what the duece, it copied my text twice in one post. Rune_Priest_Rhapsody
I was using the fantasy Goblin wolf riders for a while, but as stated, they are rather small in comparison. But I do think for somebody who's greenstuff skills is anywhere near/bad as mine, they are a much easier option than the Chaos Hounds whom I believe look much "cooler". Good luck Azza007, and welcome to the Fang... Apparently, the friendliest place on earth. But not on earth... Wulfebane
I found them! Managed to dig these out.. they were buried in my hard drive. Still can't find the person who did these, or the website they were posted, but these are where I got my Fen. wolf inspiration for GW-only designs (for tourneys/official stuff). CanisD
I've got a mix of GW plastics, a couple modified Inquisitor Cybermastifs, and some Reaper wolves. The Cybermastifs were escorts for Bjorn using a house rule. My smallest Reaper wolf earned the title of "Yippie the Wonderwolf" after surviving to be the last model on the field in a battle vs. Noise Marines.
