Jetbikes in Successors

Although I enjoy a good fluff argument once in a while, when it comes to limiting you in your army I usually disregard what the "purists" say. To 11th Company Dark Master I hope your friend isn't using this as a hindrance against you in your games.

Jet bikes are considered a heretical technology by the imperium at large due to the fact that eldar/dark elder employ them in droves durring raids and the mechanicus has lost the power to build more.Of caurse to the DA this matters are of no conciquence, they have worst troubles toconcearn themselves than using jet bikes. So why not put into use the last pieces still in existance?Lets hope they get extra heretical in the next codex and find a way to reverse engineer them too.
I have yet to be banned from using the jetbike, or large numbers of Steelwing (my Deathwing). I do see his point in that a 11th founding successor might not have a jetbike or 100 TDA suits, but to say that they have no chance of having them seems a bit wrong.
Actually it says "The last... are thought to have been lost" and "upon an example of this nigh extinct technology". Neither of those are definite "last"s and while people want to read them that way, it isn't what it says.

Edit: Emphasis mine

Wrong emphasis, the emphasis should be on the fact it says AN example not as Ignis Domus claims "the last remaining example"

The other emphasis should be that it says the last of the venerable Mk14's is thought to have been lost: if Sammael is riding a Mk14 then that is contradictory, but where in the codex does it say it is a Mk14 and not another mark?

Agree totally (actually these two quoted posts do not contradict each other). I always was a bit perplexed as to why DA codex mentions a particular Mk for jetbikes (as if we've seen any other jetbike whatsoever - I mean excluding RT era stuff). The only logical explanation is that I) other marks exist and II) maybe say a Mk13 is more widely available within the Unforgiven. BTW this is an interesting line of background to explore in tandem with the supposed technical superiority that we have yet to see on the tabletop...

But even if there is just the one, if you suppose that the Unforgiven act as a Legion it could be conceivable that they allocate their resources accordingly. So maybe Sammael's jetbike may end up with the Master of the 2nd of the Angels of Absolution for example... Although if I was Sammael I wouldn't lend by wheels to anyone  :D :)
