Road to the Demons

The banner looks great, but can't wait to see it with better pics!

And if I may be a little more critical than normal, knowing this is a contest piece, the blending on the raised folds on the back of the cape looks a bit rough. It could just be the pics, though.

Well I spent several hours tonight assembling Terminators, unfortunately I only made it through 10 of the 15! Which means I have a lot to do tomorrow, I still need to do 5 more, and a Dreadnought! Then I have to paint them on top of it! B)

Anyway, here are the first 10 Terminators, I tried to get some cool poses out of them, and I still need to finish filing some of the lines and fill some gaps, but they're almost ready for paint!

Cheers mate, I hate helmets on Terminators for multiple reasons. But in this contest since I am rush painting, I need something extra to help with the army!

And when I tried painting the scheme on a Terminator Helmet I couldn't make it look as good as I hoped!

And an update! I'm still building the army today, but I spent the morning doing my first work with Clear Resin. I tested it in a water bottle first, before using it on the Banner base. Unfortunately the banner base sprung a leak. But no fear, I took care of it and have begun a second layer of resin to correct the problem.

Here is is curing.

Thanks guy Joe!

Barry: The resin I guess is from Castin_Craft or something like that. It's just clear casting resin and then the catalyst is separate.

It's roughly $14 for the resin and $10 for the catalyst. I'll post a picture of the container for you!

On another note. There was a mess up in the curing process which forced me to paint the sides black, so now you have to look down into the water. With that in mind, I feel I should put a title on the side, like a title or name. Any thoughts?

Pictures in about 20 minutes!

Well I lied on the pictures being in 20 minutes. Two hours later and I have pictures now! ;)

The army is almost 100% assembled. I'll say 90%, the Dreadnought is the last 10%!

But I got it all primed. Unfortunately I did take pictures before priming, so for some real good pictures of it, you'll have to wait till they're painted!

The contest requires one HQ, so I made this into my Captain.

And his custom Axe.

Finally the water effects on the display base. Need to put some text on the base, any thoughts?

C&C Cheers!

Looking awesome, as always Astador. Is it at all possible to smooth out the base? Otherwise, I would say take a piece of card (even index cards would work), bend it around the front of the display base, and paint it like a plaque, writing some fuax-deep latin phrase, would make it seem really cool, and it's a cheap, easy way to dress up that matte black side.

Also, with your terminators: I'LL RACE YOU!

I was thinking of a phrase in latin, but am unsure of what it should be. I'll keep pondering.

Joe, I'd try to smooth it out more but I'm scared of how it will come out! Plus I can't spend much more time on it while doing the other army! haha

And I will take you on, what is the challenge?

On another note, the Dreadnought it almost ready for painting! Needs some sculpting work and cleaning and then it's set for priming!

Main work is removing the Death Company icons! But I suppose it's just like filling in the Space Wolf runes on the Captain's Axe head.

Hey man, you can name the stakes. I have my 5 sternguard 40-50% done, and 2 ravenwing bikes and change that are all barely past base coats. And I have over 2 companies of unpainted marines (an imperial fists project that barely got off the grund). Challenge, timeframe, and prize (even if it's only gloating) is your choice. Make it hard! I dare you!

And what else are you planning on sculpting onto the dreadnought? Like a chapter symbol or are you just erasing space vampire markings?

Quick update. Did an hour of painting before I go work on the table at my parents house and get some food. This is where I'm currently at on the Captain. Trying to be happy with it but I'm not there yet, so he may be replaced for the Armies on Parade for a quicker painted Character.

Challenge accepted sir! I'm grabbing my stuff out of storage tomorrow, so I shall begin in earnest on 3 squads and I'll finish my sternguard. Let's do this!

And the captain is starting out well. Are you doing the purple/white scheme?

Your painting is excellent I have to admit, but unless you work 24/7, I don't see how your going to get 35 painted by Saturday.

Cheers! My part of the project is only 15 Terminators, 1 Captain, 1 Dreadnought, and the display board. Which the board is almost done just needs to be glued, plaque added and some freehand. ;)

Hey Hey MCA, looking good, the Ancient is impressive ^_^

Good luck getting them done, though I really think you might've over extended yourself a little :(

Keep it up though!

Cheers again! Glad to see your still around old friend! There aren't very many of us left!!

Now let's see you do some work!

Right on Joe! Can't wait to see what you have!

And yeah, it's going to mimic the test model. The armour and flesh bits are done, just need to do the mechanics around the head, the eyes, the teeth and the face will be done, so I think I'll do that tonight before bed, and basecoat the robes.

Tomorrow, I finish the table minus the freehand, it'll take 2 days for the border of the table to set and during that I can't work on it. After that, I have 5 hours tomorrow to paint, maybe 6 if I'm lucky. In that time I need to get through at least 3 Terminators and 4 on Wednesday. That leaves me with minimum of 3 Thursday, and the Captain will progress throughout the week.

My minimum requirement is 1 HQ and two Units. So the Captain and 10 Terminators if I feel I am running out of time. I'd really like to have them all done though!

If I could sleep for like 5 hours at night after work, then I could have 10 hours a day to paint. I get off work at 6PM Wednesday through Friday and 7pm Monday and Tuesday. So if I slept from 6pm-11pm or 12pm, that gives me till 10am to paint!

And finally after that long text, here is the board.

http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/oo161/WarForgeStudios/adb1813d.jpg

I cheated ;) It's only 20"x20" with the border!

And I feel it is necessary for the nay sayers to see this log I did years ago.

1500 pts in 14 hours, A Black Templar Log

You, sir, are ambitious. I think I might have bit of more than i can chew. Here's to speed painting (hopefully I can acutally do it right this time)!

Can't wait to see it all, I'm excited about that display board, and you're making me want to do mine now... but the Armies on Parade are not for me this year. Plus the army I want to do one for would not fit on a 2x2. I'm hoping it'll fit on a 4x4.

Good luck!

Yeah, but the board i'm looking at putting together is gonna be a slow burn project with lots of stuff I need to buy. I'm not worried about it this year. Besides, I wouldn't want to put you to shame (as if...)!

Haha fair enough! :P

So despite thinking the Captain wouldn't be finished and I'd have to substitute him, I can proudly say, minus some freehand to add later, he is finished!

The pictures aren't the best, but I am to tired to try hard to take them!

For some reason he looks glossy. But he's Matte. I think the dullcoat I was wet when I took them.
