I'm up in Dallas Fort Worth, you should come up sometime.

Martin the guy who painted them works at Reaper and attends a lot of Con's, He also painted the SENMM Grey Knight in the Finecast competition.

Also, I'm in love with your Dreadnought, so please come up here so I can drool on it! :)

 

And Blind: I agree to an extent. I think the base is what got them the wins. If the contest came just down to painting I think my force was the better painted, as apposed to the thick or flat models of the other two. But no bitter feelings, it just means I have to do better next year.

 

And to keep from getting robbed in another painting contest, I have vowed to myself to make the best model with no contest of who wins!

Hm where is war-games con?

I solely play 40k but at the grapevine games workshop where I go you can almost always get anything from fantasy, bloodbowl, mordeheim, bfg, to 40k.

it purely comes down to the bases, the armies on parade was all about presenting the army on a 2x2 display board. The examples GW gave (at least in the UK) were all of armies on battlefield type terrain.

 

I do think your models were quite likely better painted (though some close ups of them as well as maybe some close ups of some of the orks/grey knights would be cool.

 

The other thing I think actually let you down, was you had quite a lot less models than any other entrant, which gives you less to show off with. Again I repeat though, after looking over the finecast entries again and again, you were seriously robbed of that one, your base was spectacular and your marine was miles ahead of the rest :(

My thought on the Orks, while the base is ellaborate and excellently executed, it didn't showcase the army or even match. The army used brown bases with green static grass, while the display is all shades of gray and white. But that

Since both people who own those armies are locals (One is a GW employee) I'll get some pictures this weekend of them and put them on my blog, since Orks aren't B&C friendly, and Meltaguns are not what I want in this thread! :P

I took a look with a google search after asking you about it. I couldn't be there all 4 days, but maybe I could stop by Saturday and Sunday! haha

 

And yeah we usually have random events or people just playing. The end of the month is always Painting Fanatic which is a painting contest that you could easily dominate in.

 

Oh and you should go to GD Chicago. I'm sure the Bjorn would easily make top 3.

Saturday and Sunday are when I'll be there playing in the Apoc Campaign anyway. I don't think anything is happening except for open gaming on the 7th. The painting comp is Saturday/Sunday.

 

I may stop by the GW. I'll give them a ring and see what they are going to be up to that day, since it looks like it's maybe 10 minutes from the Airport, which is why I have to go up there anyway.

 

Oh yeah, I completely forgot, I guess you're going up to GamesDay, so I'll have him there, as well.

Well I am in the process of assembling the 5 Tanks I currently have and unfortunately, the first two have bad warping on the top panels. But I emailed GW Hopefully I hear back from them tomorrow if they'll replace them! Which they should! If not I'll hit up the local store I bought them at for replacements!

Hey guys, here's an update. Some of you may have noticed I changed the title. Well since I am no longer able to attend GD it felt necessary. But the process has me cleaning out my projects. Well I suppose it's been a little over a week since I posted. I have just been busy with other things like work and enjoying time with my roommates. But there is a tournament coming up and it's back to work for it. On the plus side, my work schedule changed effective Monday the 11th, which is going to give me a ton more time to paint every day.

 

So I have been assembling marines for my 2000 pt list. Currently I have only built 6 Marines who are actually in the list and all the tanks. The other models didn't make the cut this time but were still a good break from generic models.

 

First I built an Honour Guard unit with 3 Plasma Guns, Champion, and a Banner as well as a Priest. As well as a 6 man Assault Squad.

And I got 5 Scouts from a buddy and began cleaning them up, and built these 10 legs.

And finally I clipped all the bits from the Blood Angel battleforce box, an assault squad, a command squad, tactical squad, two terminator squads, and an assault terminator squad into this little box. Now I need to get another to organize these bitz.

Haha Daria is definitely a great show. I bought the complete series at Best Buy when it was on sale for $29.99, it's no back to I believe $49.99. And you can't have mine! Lol

Well I know it has been a while since I posted anything, but lately I've been handling a ton of eBay auctions for my stuff. So far I've made almost $300 which is great! haha

So I need to make my army WYSIWYG.

That is one fine looking chest MCA! I also like the contrast between the gold armor and the purple tabard. He is certainly looking regal already.
