Master Barachiel
Hey there, it seems that I've fallen in love with the Inquisition ever since the new Grey Knights were released. My idea is to build up an Inquisitorial army for apocalypse battles. Due to the fact that at my local Games Workshop apocalypse is played quite often and that there are many players who play Grey Knights and even more than 4 who play the SoB, I want to buy some tanks for Grey Knights (4-6 storm ravens, I think and some Land Raiders) and also some Exorcists and Immolators for the SoB. I also create some apocalypse vehicles like a LR with a Exorcist rocket launcher on its top. Maybe I will even create some super-heavies. But to completet the Inquition's three main ordos, I thought of some things I want to buy until december. I calculated the points already although I fear to count the total points. All those units will give me the option to play some great formations like the 1st company or those vehicle formations like the line breaker formation of Vindicators. Funny thing is that I will also be able to play parts of this army regularly: +++++ INCOMING TRANSMISSION +++++ YOU MAY NOT ENUMERATE INDIVIDUAL POINTS COSTS. ONLY THE TOTAL COST OF A UNIT MAY BE LISTED. YOU ARE FORTUNATE THAT THE INQUISITION IS ADEPT WITH REGULAR EXPRESSIONS. 2 SECONDS WITH GREP SAVED YOU FROM A LANCE STRIKE. +++++ END TRANSMISSION +++++ HQ - Deathwatch Grand Master Bishamon (Pedro Kantor) - Guardian Kill Team “Ujikane” (Honour Guard): 605 pt. 7 additional Deathwatch Marines Champion’s Thunder hammer Champion’s digital lasers 9 relic blades 4 auxiliary grenade launchers Deathwatch Chapter Banner - Deathwatch Commander Artemis (Captain): 175 pt. - Veteran Kill Team “Travian” (Command Squad): 225 pt. jeffersonian000
Dude, no one will reply to that wall of text. A more reasonable format without the point costs, and it being placed in the correct forum will net you some advice. KnowThyEnemy
agreed to above and all i can say is: enjoy the converting ^_^. if your doing it right (well, right IMO) your going to need PLENTY of shoulder pads to make all the squads legit. Ive got a 10 man kill-team (with pedro), 1 termie (lysander conversion), 1 champion, 1 commander (sammael conversion/diorama), 1 stormraven, 1 dread and eventually 1 land raider achilles and 2 more termies (thinking either a chaplain or marneus and that nasty fella with the lightning claw chain fists from FW) before i call it quits. Loyalist
Your Deathwatch force list is huge but not a very good match for the fluff, which repeatedly has Deathwatch operating as Kill Teams of 5-10 SMs. To my knowledge a larger force of about 60 Deathwatch (5-6 Kill teams and a command unit) appears only once in the 40K literature (in Xenos, one of the Eisnenhorn trilogy). I thought I was stretching it a little with my C:SM based Deathwatch force of 2 sternguard squads, 2 tactical squads, a command squad, devastator squad, 2 terminator squads and transports (Rhinos/Razorbacks/Drop pods), plus two Landspeeders. I haven't used Dreadnoughts though I've heard one DW Dreadnought shows up in a Black Library novel. I doubt they would be common in the Deathwatch because they're so valuable to the originating chapter. The Deathwatch sternguard squads are most often fielded as part of an Inquisition-allied Red Hunters army, which conforms to the fluff. I've used a combined force of 24 Red Hunter and DW terminators plus Red Hunter Dreadnoughts in Apocalypse games. Once painted the DW and Red Hunters Landspeeders will operate together too. You may have trouble getting enough shoulder pads. The plastic ones from the SM Captain box set are much better than the metal ones IMO. KnowThyEnemy
bah humbug. the metal ones have way more detail :). there is a DW dreadnought in a BL novel, just cant recal the name. I THINK its victories of the space marines (the new one?) and its a Lamenters dread. either way, id like to think the dreads arent necessarily from other chapters directly, but more of a direct source. such as, a dw marine (from whatever chapter) was severly injured in battle and was placed inside a dread from a dw armoury, this making him a dw dread from his chapter :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231541-my-deathwatch-project/#findComment-2786092 Share on other sites
Loyalist
That's a sensible way to account for a DW Dreadnought - I might use your idea. I've got 2 painted Red Hunters Dreads (Ironclad and Standard/Venerable) plus a 3rd (Venerable) that's primed. I often mix Red Hunter and DW units so the third could be painted as DW and I could still field a force with 3 Dreadnoughts. jeffersonian000
All Deathwatch Kill Teams are made upon request of an OX Inquisitor, for a specific target/goal. If the Inquisitor deems it necessary for the sponsoring Chapters to donate Dreads, they will get Dreadnoughts (most likely with pilots that are DW vets). DWKT's tend to be light, fast, and self-suficiant (Tacticals in Rhinos with special ammo); however, they can be hardened, powerful, and unrelenting (Land Raiders, Dreadnoughts, TDA). Its up to the Inquisitor and the mission. SJ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231541-my-deathwatch-project/#findComment-2788616 Share on other sites
