@Andrew J: The skulls are from the empire flagellant kit, again from Hoard-O-Bitz and Wizardsgames on eBay.

 

So I've been working on converting my terminators, and on the idea behind the display of this army. I may need to shift my focus here soon towards the display part so that the army ties in with it, so maybe less army updates in the future and maybe some terrain and stuff.

 

I found some cheap unbuilt obliterators, so I'm in the process of turning them into termis, to scale with my marines. There will be 5 total in the end, and I'm still unsure how to arm them, other than the fact that I want lightning claws and maybe a chainfist. Combi meltas and a heavy flamer perhaps?

 

Anyways here they are right now. Totally not even close to being done. Thighs are sculpted, cabling is done, and the intestines are for the most part done. They still need a hell of a lot of details, ruptured bellies, arms, weapons, and a banner guy.

I think a Reaper Cannon would be nastier, maybe you could convert something akin to this? Another idea for another marine is to use the claws/hands from the plastic possessed sprue, add some Dark Eldar spikes on the finger tips to give them this weird mutated claw (counts as lightening claw) feel. Another cool touch would be to have some helmet wearing terminators as well, or maybe a terminator who is wearing only half a helmet, parts of his bare head visible through the damage.

I really, really like that autocannon. Extremely like it. Thank you so much for pointing me towards that link, that is an amazing idea!! Also on your idea for half a helmet, that's a good one as well, I think i'll take you up on that too. Thanks a lot for the suggestions!

 

I already have some really nifty ideas for the lightning claws, including the use of the possessed sprue and using some spawn bits as well.

I'm making my obliterators based off of the older metal black legion daemon prince, but I will probably include one of the plastic ones in there as well. As for that tetsuo stuff... whoa weird. But interesting. The obliterators will be more mechanical than fleshy, to differentiate them from the rest of the army, but I will put some fun stuff in there too. There'll be surprises down the road :D

Hey guys,

 

Well one of the things that came with the 3 obliterators I bought was the torso and right leg of a metal daemon prince, so not really knowing what to do with it, I turned it into an obliterator! The idea was that even obliterators would succumb to Nurgle's blessings when locked in the belly of a space hulk with hundreds of plague marines and tens of thousands of mutants and zombies. Also, I wanted more of a biomechanical version of an obliterator, so I went kind of steampunkish on this thing, as if it's a daemonic AI that's controlling this thing.

That's the update for now. I really like how the obliterator came out, so I think I'm going to try and find another metal DP to convert, except it'll be a little different than the daemonic machine that this one is. My termi weapon arms are in the mail, and there's 2 obliterator bodies I picked up to round the unit off at 5 terminators.

What about making smaller barreled weapons grow out of the Obliterator's torso/legs/gut? Especially from the gut it might have something very twisted about it. Kind of reminds me of the first 3rd edition era Obliterator models.

 

By the way, do you have a set armylist, or will you also include other sorts of weird units? What about cultists/mutants? Another cool thing to add would be droppods/dreadclaws, kind of make them more biological, kind of a strange mix between a Tyranid Mythic Spore and a Space Marine Drop Pod?

Hey, yeah, I should probably add the army list to the first post, huh... I think I'll go do that soon. I actually do have around 50 Zombie/Mutant guardsmen that I've been slowly working on, some IG vehicles, a sentinel, and some spawn as well. I've really slowed down their painting to get this army done with though, so idk when the next time they'll see my paintbrush is. Actually, I have 3 Dreadclaws on the way for this army, and although I intend to have 4 squads of PM in here for competitive play, I want to flesh it out with 7 Squads in the end, and some havocs, and perhaps even some really saucy raptors as well.

So here's another update! Done painting my obliterator, so the 2nd vindicator is next, and then some PM's. So a couple things about this guy: I completely forgot to paint the chain on his leg and back in the picture. That's been corrected since then. Also, while painting him I completely forgot to weather and chip the armor, but I'm okay with how it turned out.

So yeah, that's that for now. I've settled on more of a fiery approach for plasma for this army, as I don't think that green would go, and blue is already the color of all of their lenses and glass pieces so yeah.

I'm not normally a big fan of Ol' Nurgle, but this is some sick green stuff work! Pun intended. Great conversions.

Very nice! The only thing I would nitpick on are the combi-bolters, I think the ones from the Chaos Terminators, or actually having two bolters attached to each other would look better than the Stormbolters, they would look a bit grittier/dirtier and be more fitting with the fact that the Lords of Decay are a Death Guard warband, so mostly pre-Heresy styled equipment.

I noticed you posted this bit over at Dakkadakka:

If you don't know about them, they're a genocidal warband that splintered off of the Death Guard, they were the main insurgents in the Vraks campaign, their base of operations is this huge space hulk called "The Monolith of Woe" and they are one of the most belligerent warbands in the entire galaxy, their most famous action was a direct strike on the Sol system, where 4000 Plague Marines fought against the Custodes and Grey Knights on Pluto, and although they were slaughtered to the last man, it shook the entire Solar System's concept of being unreachable.

 

Where did you get that part about the attack on the Sol system from?
