Hellrender
Heya, I'm going to build a space marine chapter around a shamanistic theme. I will take a lot of inspiration from real life shamans (native americans, asian and african) aswell as shamanism from fantasy games. atm i'm also planning on making a WIP for them, but i'm still in the planning phase (plan is to start building in september/oktober). I already found some very nice models from Scibor that i can use for my HQ models (the celtic warriors). But i'm mainly in need of some detail stuff. Mainly feathers, spears, totems and spirit guides. The feathers will be stuck to most models, aswell as bone necklaces and such, and i was wondering wether it's better to sculpt them myself, or something else? The spears need to look like a real spear. I'm trying to make them as close as possible to the 'natural' way of the shamans of old and fantasy, but i don't want to lose the Sci-fi way of 40k (they are space marines still!) Does anybody know where you can buy good spears? (aswell as more primitive looking maces and tomahawk axes)? The last one is about the spirit guides. Spirit guides are animal spirits, helping the shaman or helping others at the call of the shaman. I'm in need of good scaled animals that i can use (mainly: bulls, crocodile, lion/tiger and eagle) This is what i got so far: Eagle: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/...dId=prod1091023 Tiger: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/...dId=prod1010005 and for spears: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/...dId=prod460010a Atm i'm not really happy with the spears, since they are way to fragile for a space marine, and the tigers are not lions (which has my preferance). I hope you guys can help out. Thanks in advance Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231686-shaman-themed-chapter/ Share on other sites

Stolid Fox
For spears have you considered grey knight halberd poles with a CCW appropriately cut and attached to the end? I did something similar with a DreadKnight -- cut the handle off the DK sword, put a piece of brass rod on it, and got a really sharp spear effect. Hellrender
could be a good thing. Will definately test it out, since it keep the staff solid because it's a space marine hand. The other issue i now find, is that i can't find any Native American heads, or heads with braids in the hair, but shaven faces. Only Wood Elfs who have also a leather piece on their face, come relatively close. Any has seen some where? their kin
The space wolf sprue come's with 34 bare heads, probably 8-10 of which you'd be able to use (at least). And if you want bones, check out secret weapon miniatures and there human skeleton: http://www.secretweaponminiatures.com/inde...products_id=231. They also have a buffalo skeleton and a sack'o'skulls. All good stuff if you wanna do the bone theme. Also, if you're looking for feathers, check out the dark angels stuff. They still have feathers on some of their bits. Hope that helps. -joe Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231686-shaman-themed-chapter/#findComment-2796761 Share on other sites
