AndyWolfen
Hello, having just finished "battle of the fang" I had an idea. The story described a massive statue of Leman Russ. What a great centre piece to have in your display cabinet or on your battlefield. Question is has anyone made one? I have bought the honoured imperium box set that you get the space marine statue, bought some green stuff and a modelling tool. I think it should work. Since it is my first attempt has anyone got any advice or pictures they would like to share of this kind of stuff? Rikochet
Yeah Id like to do that, together with the statues of freki and geri, Russ' two wolves. Dunno, the only official picture that come to mind is the one on the cover of Prospero Burns There are a few custom made russ miniatures out there, google is your friend :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231721-leman-russ-statue/#findComment-2787905 Share on other sites
Jimmy Carmine
There's a brilliant Jes Goodwin sketch of Leman Russ on the Lexicanum, this was the basis of an old Rogue Trader miniature of Russ and has pretty much defined my image of the Wolf King for the last 16 years, and is how I imagined the statue in Battle of the Fang to look. It's a great miniature, it's a shame that its age means it is dwarfed in stature by the modern models. :) Based on this picture and model, I would suggest giving the statue the topknot hair and some wolf pelts. Then add some runes to the sword and turn the human skull on the shield into a wolf skull and you should have a great looking centrepiece statue for your collection. Orphus
Hmmm, I may of not been around for RT but I strongly dislike this version of Russ. I believe he would of looked more barbaric. There is a painted miniature somewhere that is more like the Russ I imagine. Different strokes for different folks I suppose, and this artwork does come from the time when they were called Spacewolves, lived on Lucan and the Fortress Monastry looked like an overgrown Bavarian Castle, barely as deep underground as it was above it, so I can imagine that any modern GW art of him would differ significantly. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231721-leman-russ-statue/#findComment-2788067 Share on other sites

Just like the model and pic fron 2nd edition we are now showing our age. The young kids want all the new fangled flashyness off the new and improved Russ. Jimmy Carmine
The young kids want all the new fangled flashyness off the new and improved Russ. Gentlemen, we can resculpt him. We have the technology. We have the capability to build the Finecast's first Primarch model. Leman Russ will be that model. Better than he was before. Better...bigger...more detailed." /Cue 80's theme music. Now I'm really showing my age. :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231721-leman-russ-statue/#findComment-2788077 Share on other sites

Nrthstar
New flashiness? I think it's simply a matter of modelling evolution. That model would at best be a special character, but Russ is far more than just ulrik or ragnar. Would you seriously not complain if they released a Russ figure and just reissued that old piece? Sentimental/nostalgia feelings aside that is. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231721-leman-russ-statue/#findComment-2788110 Share on other sites

dublindawg
The battle fortress, I believe is suppose to represent one of the gates to the Space Wolves Fortress. It was made up for the GB Games Day a couple of years ago. I believe there are also pictures of it in one of the White Dwarfs from back then.
