Finished this today and wanted to know what you guys think of it. Not as chaosy as many but I was trying to get the sense that the vehicle isn't looked after as well as it would by more 'mentally balanced' troops.

I really like this, very nice weathering and your red is spot on. I was going to use this model for my worldeaters. Did you have to buy your WE doors on top of the £62 this model cost, or did Forgeworld let you have some WE doors instead of the cruddy imperial ones? Are they upgraded tracks too?

Cheers mate and I'm glad you like the final look. All the FW parts had to be paid for leaving me with the Imperial ones. However, an ebay auction later I got most of the money back.

Shame you cant get FW to swap out the doors for free, its not like its problematic for them.......ah well

Just thought you might want to know.....either someone stole your model, or you sent a pic to the GW website?

well done!

Congratulations indeed - 'tis well deserved. Now, what is the recipe for that gorgeous red?

Cheers mate. ;)

Well, from bare plastic upwards the receipe is the following. Black undercoat, Mechrite Red base colour airbrushed on and feathered into the black towards the bottom. The same is done with Blood Red only a bit less paint towards the bottom. This is then washed with Devlan Mud. Finally, Blood Red followed by Blazing Orange and Bleached Bone is dry brushed on.

I then did the chipping, rust streaks and dusting.

Hope that helps.

Dead sexy, I love everything about it. I'm a huge fan of the more "understated" Chaos look (rather than "Rargh, skulls and spikes everywhere" look, though that can look good if done well), and the weathering is perfect.

Top job on getting the GW blog mention, too!

Yay someone that agrees with me! I use some spikie bits, but not much at all, and all my friends are always asking why over and over!

Best description of all that spike stuff comes from the Caine books, where he describes a traitor Russ looking "as if someone had stuck a length of park railing onto it"

It can be good if understated, but a profusion of it drowns the very model it's stuck to.

Man, thats brilliant! I wish i could paint red that well! (It's why i went Black Legion, minimise on the red :P ) But i got a question, that gunner, is he the FW model? And if so, does the head come separately from the body? Because I absolutely LOVE that topknot :P

Cheers mate. ;) The gunner is a FW model but I'm afraid the head and torso are one piece.

I absolutely love this I think it's the best model I've seen in a long time. I am a HUGE fan of the not over the top Chaos look and try to do it myself. I really love how realistic this looks. Will you tell me how you did the weathering please? I have been afraid to do it to my own models although I've left the paint job open for it.
