Hfran Morkai
Hey guys, I love making up packs of Scouts as they're my favourite unit in the codex and I'm looking to create a large force of them, however The Scouts provided are limited and therefore conversions are needed (Yes I use bits from other boxes such as Chaos Maurauders), I happen to have a fair amount of unassembled Cadian models sitting in my drawers and I've been looking at them for a basis for a couple of Scout packs, with suitable kitbashes from the Scout frame, Wolf Pack, Wolf upgrade sprue and other kits. Obviously remove the apparent Guard symbology (and Aquilas because Heresy era) and "savage them up". My question is do you think they could work? Nadir
Could work, but you have to change all heads with helmets to more SW looking. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231905-guard-models-as-scouts/#findComment-2789895 Share on other sites
Kassill
Their legs and torso's would actually make really good "base" models I would think, combined with Chaos Marauder arms, with some BP's thrown on and the heads from them or even the ones that come in the Space Wolves pack box. Hmm, now you have given me ideas! ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231905-guard-models-as-scouts/#findComment-2789898 Share on other sites
morehardcore
i would be careful the guard torso and legs are a bit small compared to the more robust ones on the chaos and spacewovles sprues Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231905-guard-models-as-scouts/#findComment-2789932 Share on other sites
Myxx
Maybe some of the flagellant heads from the Fantasy range. They are usually rather ragged and angry (and a bit on the crazy side)... hendrik
they'll be too tiny mikal, while they height etc might be good a scout is atleast 1mm broader at his chest Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231905-guard-models-as-scouts/#findComment-2790040 Share on other sites
Jonas Stromclaw
I don't know about legs and torsos, but the arms work pretty well. The meltagun in my pack came from the cadian command squad sprue. Xeenos
Im going to use my old Wolfen models for scouts. They have less armor, which makes scene for the 4+ save. I cut off 2 bolt pistols to give them melta guns and gave some power weapons or.. whatever their allowed to have. Part of the lore for the group is the main army is Space Wolves, and the 'scouts' are a detachment of the 13th Company coming in to support the main Space Wolf force. Kind of like Legion of the Damned style. Makes good use of the figures, i think. Vantius
I believe Haakon Ironheart used marauder arms with PA legs and torso, and other bits. best looking scout conversion, period. LoneWulfen
I personally think this is a good concept idea at least! As mainly a collector and painter of models, I would definitely give this a try even just for a test model or a one off, who knows you may like the look that you have constructed and decide that you want to make more to use as scouts! And if you do decide to make them, pictures would be a necessity ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231905-guard-models-as-scouts/#findComment-2796218 Share on other sites
red_starrise
In my 4th Ed (3rd Ed dex) SW army, I built my scouts using catachan parts. I used left over SM torsos, heads from the middenheim sprue from Mordeheim, & then took the catachan legs & cut them off at the knees, did the same w/ SM legs & glued the SM greaves onto the catachan legs. For the sniper pack I used catachan arms w/ cadian shoulder pads for the muscular look. For the assault pack I used beastmen arms. Blacksad
it could work (obviously) but if you do this, I'd suggest making ALL your scouts as such, to have a form of continuity, with your schouts being the ones with leaner muscles, tough equaly strong, focussed on resilience and speed, instead of brute force like "the other space wolves" Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231905-guard-models-as-scouts/#findComment-2805728 Share on other sites
Wulfen
Would TOTALLY work. Used to use marauders as CC scouts all the time. still use bits from marauder sprues CONSTANTLY for conversions. Shame on the non-converters. It's totally wuff to think outside the square and inject some personality into you're squads. that's what we're about! Nadir
Found in the net: http://www.wargamerau.com/forum/lofiversio...php/t10494.html You could alway wolf those up a bit. Also there is somewhere in the net photo of Prophet SW scouts, but I can not find it. Hyaenidae
The scouts from the Land Speeder Storm have a bunch of legs that can easily be converted into all sorts of cool poses real easily. Check out my album, or my WIP thread in my sig to see 'em, if you'd like. I also used the heads from the Catachan command squad for the heads (with the goofy bandanas shaved off), as all of them look grizzled, and the proportions look far more accurate. And I really gotta stop hanging out in the Wolf forum, before I start thinking of building another army....or get rabies... EDIT: Poor spelling, sorry.
