demio
Hi all I have never entered Golden Demon before and kinda want to see how i do. I'm planning on doing a character from the Black Dragons chapter on the back of a dragon. I have the conversion planned out but my biggest problem is i have no idea how to paint a truly nice black, does anyone have any tutorials or can just tell me how. Cheers all. Dexo
Black is a hard coler to master, and even harder to do at golden demon level. Basicly you need to practice "less is more" then it comes to black it will very easy look grey or blue. I am no master on the subject but that what my experiens is  The only tutorial i know of is this on http://www.jrn-works.dk/tutorials/tut.php?...ack&lan=eng made by Golden Demon winner Jakob Rune Nielsen, it is a bit old but there is some good advise in it still. Best of luck in you Golden Demon endervers  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231928-black-for-golden-demon/#findComment-2790216 Share on other sites
demio
This is just what i was looking for thank's. I may do a work in progress for this model once i start it but it's gonna take some time to get the black to a good level. Hemal
The key to black is NOT to paint the black, use pure black for shading, start off at a very dark blue, purple or green and highlight up through the tones using this as the key colour. Think Mapie feathers rather than a flat black sports car... Bewlay
Well there's this tutorial, which I found helpful however it's for black cloth, but you could try it on armour http://www.youtube.com/user/Catattafish#p/u/15/Y7QDRZTeubs Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231928-black-for-golden-demon/#findComment-2790672 Share on other sites
Firedrake Cordova
If you have it, the WD with the release of the Legion of the Damned has a good 'Eavy Metal guide. As Hemal says, they say don't paint "black" black - mix it with a grey/blue to give it a hue, and keep the black for the shadows...
