bdawalt
Check this out: Lion El Johnson WIP !!! Its from a blog that's in Spanish, which I unfortunately don't speak. If anyone is willing to translate I'd be interested in what the captions on the pics say... For all the rest of you, bask in the glory of what may be the best sculpt of the Lion that I have ever seen. Bringer of Redemption
Wow... That is an impressive sculpt. I hope a painted picture of it is posted. As for the Spanish, 3 years of high school Spanish have proven that I have no gift for languages whatsoever, so I can't help you there. --BoR Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231946-amazing-lion-el-johnson-wip/#findComment-2790348 Share on other sites

Bryan Blaire
On the pictures, it is mostly just detailing that he was trying to decide what color to paint the blade, gold NMM on the crossguard, black armor with gold NMM detailing, black hair per the books, red fabric on the robe, etc. I swear I've seen that sculpt somewhere before too... Okay, found it: FreakForge's Lion El'Johnson Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231946-amazing-lion-el-johnson-wip/#findComment-2790357 Share on other sites

EPK
does not do the pics but the rest helps It's just referencing the colors those items they is pointing to might be painted. I believe the one pointing to the head is asking "black hair?", followed by saying they will check the novels. Which they should, because it should be blond. Tanhausen
As Bryan found out, this is a comission by an argentinian called FreakForge. Onto the posts: Linky Next week I'm gonna be totally away from my brushes due to a couple trips I have to do, but I'll least include a small entry in which I show the inital ideas I showed Tonijor about colour schemes. Be warned that after our conversations, some of these ideas have been modified by others, but this will give you a general idea of what we want. http://www.displacedminiatures.com/images/1.img.1307529604Sketch1.jpg Head -> Black hair? See Novels Halo -> NMM gold with my style of yellow for the Ultra eagles Gauntlet -> Black armour, details in golden NMM Sword hilt -> Golden NMM Sword blade-> Blue? Green? Silver? Robe-> purple cape, red rim or the other way around? Base -> stone, mould http://www.displacedminiatures.com/images/2.img.1307529604Sketch2.jpg Backpack -> ?? Backpack wire-> red cables or in industrial stripes [i guess he means hazard] Bottom backpack -> bleached bone? Robe -> White or yellow, as the cape tone demands These ideas were before seeing the model in hand. Now that I've seen better the details, some things are going to change. For example, the skull of the Calibanite beast will go in bleached bone duely aged. The model is now built and primed, so I expect to start with it the week of the 20th [next week?] Hope it helps  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231946-amazing-lion-el-johnson-wip/#findComment-2791846 Share on other sites
Augustus
Thanks for the translation Tanhausen! Fine model and the cloack/robe thing is epic. But even I wonder if it would get in the way of his fighting. Perhaps it can be sucked into is backpack.. lol Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231946-amazing-lion-el-johnson-wip/#findComment-2794080 Share on other sites

Tanhausen
Obviously this sculpt is a piece of art... but its not of my likeing (word?) I like the dark grim and all for the novels... for showcasing, the model is fine. But for playing...OTT and too static in my opinion. EPK
likeing (word?) Drop the "e". Liking. And I agree it's more of a showcase type model. I also find the lower half disproportionate to the top. With the size of the head and torso I feel the legs should be longer. Of course that doesn't take much away really, it's a work of art most definitely.
