Wulfebane
Ok, something just struck me and I'm not sure if it's even allowed. First off, it would be dependent on whether I'm thinking about this correctly. When a squad composition says something like "1-5 models per pack", does this mean I need to meet the full 5 models in the composition before making a 2nd pack? If the answer to that is no, would it then be possible to take 2 Long Fangs (of any load out; 2x MLs, 2x Las, mixed, etc) and 1 sergeant... AND THEN, take a second pack built exactly the same? Leaving you with 6 Long Fangs, 4 of which with hvy weapons, 2 being Squad Leaders. If the answer is yes, then ignore this post... ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231966-long-fang-composition/ Share on other sites
Vlk
Of course you don't need to buy a full pack before buying another. The latter variant is completely acceptable. I don't really know why you would want to do that (since you would be paying more for the Squad Leaders without heavy weapons and you would unnecessarily add another kill point to your army) but you CAN :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/231966-long-fang-composition/#findComment-2790630 Share on other sites
FenrisWolf
A reason to do this is you can then target 4 different things with one shot each, for rather cheap in points. Hear da Lamentation
Yeah, as said, you can do this - but I dont understand the reason either. OK, so you can target 4 things with 1 shot each - but what is the point? You only stand just over 50% chance of hitting - let alone wounding/penetrating. 1 shot just doesn't cut the mustard. Even with 4 shots, I usually don't split fire. If I shoot at something I want it destroyed ... not slightly miffed ;) Personally, I really dont think this is a good idea. You use 2 heavy weapon slots (arguably our best slot) - for very poor payback. Rain Finale
You can but usually people only do this with multiple units of 4x heavy weapon fangs + squad leader such that each unit can direct 2 shots at two different targets. Quillen
And even if you have a las cannon on the rear armor of a Rhino, you have a good chance it will still be there. I usually try for 2 or 3 targets a turn incase I am lucky. but I usually make sure I have atleast 2 shots if not 3 going onto armor. Just to make sure it dies.
