VardenV2
Greetings. I have not posted for quite a while because i have been working on my Ork Stompa model (heresy i know)! However, today I decided to switch things up and go ahead and FINALLY base and finish my Chaplain Dreadnought. He is complete with plasma cannon and power claw. I am curious if anyone thinks I should add a Dark Angels winged sword to one of the shoulders. I could freehand it on. I'm not sure if he is giving off enough of the Dark Angels vibe despite the color scheme of black, bone, red, and some green and gold. I used a mix of sand and slate bits along with some old chaos space marine bits I had lying around. The GW resin basing kit is AWESOME! I tried to focus on the base, as I have taken a liking to creating cinematic terrain all of a sudden. Maybe it's because my buddies and i built our own board recently. Hope you like it! http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2011/6/13/234468_sm-Base,%20Chaplain,%20Dreadnought,%20Forge%20World.jpg http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2011/6/13/234465_sm-Base,%20Chaplain,%20Dreadnought,%20Forge%20World.jpg http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2011/6/13/234467_sm-Base,%20Chaplain,%20Dreadnought,%20Forge%20World.JPG http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2011/6/13/234466_sm-Base,%20Chaplain,%20Dreadnought,%20Forge%20World.JPG Of course the dead Chaos Space Marine is painted in the colors of my buddy's CSM arm :D Any comments and questions are greatly appreciated! -VardenV2
Urb
I definitely think you should go green with the main armour plates. Black is difficult shade and highlight to begin with. Over the larger panels it can be a real challenge even for top painters. You may want to add some depth to the white on the front. Many people use shadow blue. I like using browns. Anything to bring out some depth. The base is wonderful. Executed better than the model itself. Maybe should be vice versa.
VardenV2
Here are the FINAL pics of my dreadnought. I tried to add some additional highlights to the wings to get some depth, and add some heavier grey highlights to the black armor. I also added in a Dark Angels decal on the shoulder. All in all, I am happy with how he turned out, but it has been a long time since I worked on him and I think it shows. My painting skills now are far better than when I started. I wish I had waited until now to begin this project, but nonetheless he shall proudly serve my Deathwing Army. Here are the newest (and final) pics! He looks better in real life (duh) and when he is on the tabletop surrounded by his amigos! Enjoy! http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2011/6/13/234550_sm-Base,%20Chaplain,%20Dreadnought,%20Forge%20World.jpg http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2011/6/13/234551_sm-Base,%20Chaplain,%20Dreadnought,%20Forge%20World.jpg -VardenV2
Urb
A definite improvement. Adding symbols to the shoulders was a great idea. Breaks up all the flat panels. There's a lot of good stuff going here. Keep up the good work.
