IA: [yet to be determined IF successor]

Recommended Posts

Here is a brief outline of my Imperial Fists successor chapter, have a look at the basics, will write up actual fluff soon, just take a look for now

Origins:

Created during the Twenty-Third founding

Patrol fringes of space hunting down elder forces that tread on imperial space

Large dealings with Eldar wytches have led to many corrupt psykers in SM ranks, very weary of using them in battlefield roles

Helped to turn back elder incursion and disrupt their plans to destroy an imperial hive world

Homeworld:

Had home world but was destroyed by elder incursions

Are now a fleet based/crusading chapter

Combat Doctrine

Experts of siege like their inheritor chapter, also utilize high mobility with shield wall tactics to quickly outflank opposition

Organisation

Chapter leans more towards siege and siege-breaking tactics, employing dreadnoughts with jump infantry to lock down and outflank, and sternguard with vanguard to hold objectives

believe that the geneseed is their spiritual link to the primarch and the emperor, to lose such would be a great travesty and thus employ Apothecaries more readily than others

Beliefs

Despise elder for use of psykers that do not follow the light of the emperor, believe that without the light of the emperor to guide, the mind is a weapon to destroy the imperium

Geneseed

Obviously Rogal Dorn, an original IF geneseed

Battle Cry

“For Dorn, destroy the witch in the Emperor’s name!”

Still don’t have a final color scheme or name, tossing some things around for now, let me know what you think

Does Purifiers sound good to you?

I can't believe your still going on with this foolish quest of yours! ;) But interesting name though.

Anyway the only thing I think is iffy is their beliefs. They only hate Eldar? Plus the way you worded the destroy your mind thing is very confusing how you worded it. Are you trying to say a questioning mind or just any type of thinking whatsoever? Otherwise everything else seems good.

as i've said it is an outline, but yeah i can see what you mean, it was supposed to be worded towards, also eldar are just their most hated enemy, its not like they buddy with chaos or go down for some beers with the orks, again just a rough outline, but feel free to throw the criticism and i'll try to work it out in my more refined version

I wasn't suggesting that they were friends with the others but that they only focused on the eldar after what happened to their homeworld. Plus I was more pointing towards the second part where you say "the mind is there to destroy the imperium". Any mind or something like an unbelieving one?

so i did a short write up of their origins and i thought i'd let you guys take a gander

Origins:

A
t the onset of M41, on the fringes of Segmentum Pacificus, the {IF Successor Chapter} was born into a galaxy of strife. Created during the Twenty-Third founding the {IF Successor Chapter} were trained to be the great defenders of the Imperium like so many before them. From the plant Lastravia, the {IF Successor Chapter} fought witch and xeno and heretic in the name of the Emperor. They fought with blade and bolter in the name of the Emperor, crushing all that would seek to undo his great reign.

The Purging of Solis V:

On Solis V, a recruiting world of the {IF Successor Chapter}, a contingent of orks launched raids on several of the settlement recruited from by the {IF Successor Chapter}. Upon receiving a distress signal from Solis V, they quickly mobilized and sent their 5th company, lead by captain {5th company captain}. In short order the orks were defeated and turned back from Solis V, however the reports of xeno activity continued to stream in. The {IF Successor Chapter} quickly learned that the orks were not the only threat to Solis V.

The Witches of Ulthwé:

Deep in the jungles of Solis V, the eldar of craftworld Ulthwé worked towards their foul machinations to wreck havoc on the world of Solis V. Slowly, settlement after settlement, city after city, the world of Solis V was blanketed in darkness. Soon the eldar spread across the planet like a cancer, the {IF Successor Chapter} began a campaign to push these witches back from a world of the Emperor. With bolter and blade they pushed the eldar back, inch by grueling inch, the foul xeno witches were forced from the surface of Solis V. They retreated into their foul Webway gates, leaving the surface of Solis V, but not the system, for the eldar had found a new target.

The Cataclysm:

In the Hellforge Mountains of Lastravia, the eldar of Ulthwé assembled a horrific weapon to unleash against the homeworld of the {IF Successor Chapter}. In time, this event would become known as the Cataclysm, a dark period in time for the {IF Successor Chapter}. The massive weapon unleashed on Lastravia was a bomb, but unlike any that the Emperium had ever encountered before, instead of engulfing the world in flames or a powerful virus, it opened up a black hole in the Hellforge that slowly ripped the planet apart. By the grace of the Emperor the {IF Successor Chapter} were deployed to several parts of Segmentum Pacifius, so the brunt of their forces were not on the planet when it was destroyed. Swearing they would atone for the mistake of not expecting an attack on their homeworld, the {IF Successor Chapter} set out on a crusade to rid imperial space of the foul xenos.

You! Get back to the Eternal Crusader. We'll have none of the DIY nonsense!

:HQ:

A solid start to the chapter.

What I think you need to focus on is really nailing down their theme or character. What is it that makes them get out of bed in the morning and march into the jaws of death to fight? What motivates them? What makes them different from the other 999 chapters out there?

The destruction of their homeworld could see them motivated by hate, quite easily. Of course, such a hate could drive the chapter to risk its very existence in its quest for revenge, maybe even abandoning their earlier principles... Just an idea, feel free to take it or leave it :o

I approve of the hate motivator. I used it myself, though my marines came to hate gradually, rather than suddenly losing their world all at once. Perhaps explain how the Eldar affect them? If they mainly battle the Eldar, what does this mean for the chapter? Less heavy armor and more fast attack? Do they strive for the Eldar's high level of tech, or do they abhor the Xenos tech? Are they envious of their psychic and technological gifts? Their speed and agility? Basically, if your chapter is colored by the Eldar, how so?
