phatosen
Hello B&C. I'm still new to this hobby, only been painting for about two years now and this is my second army. I've been working on my Imperial Fists for just short of a year now, and am personally really pleased with the results I'm getting. I'm aiming for a kinda contrasty battle-gritty look, with a bright warm yellow armor shining through with dark recesses - to get that high contrast. Anyway, here's some pictures to give you a general idea what I've produced so far. ^_^ Oh yeah, sorry about the poor quality, only camera I have is in my cell phone. ;) First, a Battle Brother from one of my Tactical Squads. http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/986/trooperfront.jpghttp://img227.imageshack.us/img227/6204/trooperback.jpg A Rhino. http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/6370/rhinoright.jpghttp://img806.imageshack.us/img806/8196/rhinoleft.jpg http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/2989/rhinotop.jpghttp://img812.imageshack.us/img812/8269/rhinoback.jpg Captain. http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/1833/captainu.jpg Have a few more minies painted, but haven't got around to taking the pictures yet. Among them a Whirlwind, 5 assault marines, 5 scouts, 5 veterans (Dark Angels painted as Fists, kinda cool in my own humble opinion. :P ) So check back, pics will come up soon. Anyways, thanks a lot for your time, C&C would be very welcome. :) Edit: Changed the name of the thread slighty, to avoid confusion with another thread. Lord Antares
As an Iron Warriors player, I am envious of those chevrons! The marines are lovely and sharp, good job ;)

deadlift58
how in the emperors name did you get that yellow? its pretty much all that keeping me from rolling fists instead of my grey colored chapter im currently making a test model of. i love how its a darker yellow and not too freaking cartoony. the future is supposed to be a depressing place where everyone is obsessed with death and skulls and dark and stuff
Mr Yellow
Nicelook models and very nice yellow, a bit brighter that mine. I'm curious what's your recipe?

These are very impressively one ;)
phatosen
Thanks a lot for the feedback guys, much appreciated. My yellow is really simple - I basecoat the mini with Chaos Black (yeah, I know, not the most usual when doing bright yellows), then give the power armor part of the mini a couple of layers of Dheneb Stone (A bright grey foundation paint, so really great coverage). After that I give the armor two layers of watered down Coat d'Arms 159 Golden Yellow (Used the "old" Citadel Golden Yellow on my first minis, but found to my horror they had changed it to a MUCH brighter, lemony yellow - Coat d'Arms Golden Yellow is the exact same color). First highlight is 50/50 Golden Yellow and Citadel Sunburst Yellow - second highlight is pure Sunburst Yellow. Last highlight (especially looks good on vehicles, not as easy notable on power armor) is a very thin line of Vallejo Golden Yellow. Doing yellow this way is really easy, haven't had any bad experiences with it, like I read a lot of place that people have. It's a breeze, and I really enjoy the end result, a nice and warm, yet still bright, yellow. ;) Anyhow, took some more pictures I hope you like. I apologize beforehand, my camera seemed to have a mind of its own this time around, and the yellow does come out a little different each shot - I assure you, it IS the same color standing here on my desk. B) A Veteran Marine. http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/2653/veteranfront.jpghttp://img18.imageshack.us/img18/3863/veteranback.jpg The Squad. http://img833.imageshack.us/img833/3397/veteransquadfront.jpghttp://img803.imageshack.us/img803/7216/veteransquadback.jpg As I'm sure you noticed, I stole the sprues from the Dark Angels. My idea is that they wear a black drape in honor of, and to mourn, the death of Dorn - I read somewhere that after the death of the Emperor, Dorn wore a black armor - though that sounded really cool, and that's where I got the idea for these. Basically only Veterans have proven their worth enough to be bestowed the honor of wearing the drape. An Assault Marine Sergeant. http://img864.imageshack.us/img864/6682/assaultsergeantfront.jpghttp://img263.imageshack.us/img263/5955/assaultsergeantback.jpg The Squad. http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/9196/assaultsquadfront.jpghttp://img193.imageshack.us/img193/7715/assaultsquadside.jpghttp://img851.imageshack.us/img851/3116/assaultsquadback.jpg This will be a 10-man squad, just need to paint the last five. And last, but not least - the Jump Pack Chaplain I intend to use to lead the Assault Marines. http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/3073/chaplain.jpg

Mad Mek
Fantastic looking Imperial Fists. A friend of mine is starting IF and I'll definitely be recommending your color recipe for the yellow. Well done!
Olis
Nice work. Are the guys with cloaks meant to be Sternguard? It's a good idea to have vets in black cloaks. :woot:
phatosen
thanks for the reply on the paint recipe. now i just have to find somewhere to buy the coat darms paint. i have all the other colors. the only change i may make is the red rims on the shoulder pads, everyone does 5th company Don't remember where I got the paint, was from some UK store I found off Google, so shouldn't be too hard to come by. And yeah, everyone does 5th company, but I decided that shouldn't keep me from painting the colors I thought would look the best. The red trims are really popular too (think most GW Fists are red trims?), but if you want, go ahead..! :) The red makes an awesome contrast to the yellow. Fantastic looking Imperial Fists. A friend of mine is starting IF and I'll definitely be recommending your color recipe for the yellow. Well done! Hey, that's awesome! I have to admit, it's not my own recipe (if there is such a thing), I saw the colors in a tutorial somewhere.. Might even have been here on B&C, don't remember. But thanks anyway. :D Nice work. Are the guys with cloaks meant to be Sternguard? It's a good idea to have vets in black cloaks. Yeah, they are Sternguard - read somewhere that they can change ammunition for their Bolters, so pure Bolters for the squad would be a cheap and effective choice of weapon, so that's what I went for. But not too experienced in playing the table top game yet, painting comes first for me. :D
