Worst List Tournament

Rain Finale

I'm sure you've heard it before perhaps under a different term but the idea is to create the worst possible tournament legal list you can. You then swap lists/armies with opponents and try to beat them. It's then in your best interest to create the worst possible list you can to give to your opponent.

Unfortunately, I don't think I can make a terrible enough list considering my opponents are Tau and either Eldar or Necrons. Problem is being forced to use a troop choice and our troops are just too good. Well, that in mind, I came up with this as a worst list:

Rune Priest: Thunderclap, Storm Caller

Chooser of the Slain, Master of Runes, Melta Bombs, Jump Pack, WTT, WTN, Saga of the Warror Born

Rune Priest: Storm Caller, Tempest Wrath

Chooser of the Slain, Master of Runes, Melta Bombs, Space Marine Bike, WTT, WTN, Saga of the Beast Slayer

3x WG:

#1: 2x TH, MotW, Melta Bombs, Space Marine Bike

#2: 2x SS, Melta Bombs, Space Marine Bike

#3: 2x SS, Melta Bombs, Jump Pack

Drop pod: Deathwind Missile Launcher

5x Blood Claws

5x Blood Claws

999 pts

Well, that's about the worst I can do. But I don't think it's going to be bad enough.

How about you? Can you do worse than this? :D

Or you could make a good list, learn the other armies, then shame your opponents by beating their pants off with them having the "good" list.

That's planned too, but this is more of a "for fun" thing.

One person is building a Tau list consisting of 2 minimum squads of fire warriors bubble wrapped by crisis suits with no weapons! and a bunch of marker light drones

EDIT: Plus having a goal of shaming your friends seems in bad form to me, but then our LGS is more about having fun than WAAC

Take Canis Wolfborn and nothing but Fenrisian Wolves. You will be unable to claim any objectives, shoot (no ranged weapons), or attack anything that is 1 level up in a ruin.

I've actually considered this for a tournament, just to see the faces of my opponents.

Yes there is the Canis list. I ran that in a tournament. In a 1000 points, you can fit 101 fenrisian wolves if you modify the force org chart to allow 7 troop choices. I painted mine withe with black spots as a one off (easy to paint over!)

If you want regular units, try this list:

HQ:

WGBL w PF, TH, MotW, MB, RA, WTT, WtN and a Jump Pack and Saga of the Warrior Born

WGBL w PF, TH, MB, WTT

WGBL in TDA w PF, TH, MotW, MB, WtN and Saga of the Wolfkin

Troops:

5 Blood claws no options

5 Blood claws no options

Elites:

3 Iron Priest each with WTT, WtN, and Bolt Pistol and three servitors

The list should not be hard to take out.

i am under the impression that crisis suits MUST have suit options purchased? or are the basic rules being ignored for this event?

WLK

They must, but the hard points they have (3) can be used entirely for war gear (including an upgrade that doesn't even do anything in fifth edition) and no weapons.

i think now would be the time to break out our wolf guards with jumppacks!

depending on what you'll be facing this list doesn't sound bad at all. those wolf guards and the battleleader have the mobility to reach their opponent relatively save by using cover and are armed with weapons that will instant death most of what you'll be facing, not to mention ruin tanks etc. all this list needs to really work well is some good cover

In an Objective based game, six wounds removes any hope of siezing an Objective. In a KP game a shooty unit on the second floor of a Ruin is untouchable to any unit except Logan. And neither HQ can join either unit without negating the one advantage that each unit has - mobility. Further, the Wolf Guard having three wounds total, and striking last in combat makes it pretty easy to kill them without suffering many casualties. Instant Death is irrelevant against 1 wound models, and they have no ranged weapons. (Sorry, the list doesn't show that I replaced their Bolt Pistol with the Thunder Hammer). :tu:

but you forget the twin linked bolters on their bike ^_^ sure it might not be the best army but a good tactician will find a way to deal with your units. he might even just keep them in cover to just contest an objective making the game a draw. atleast that's how i would play it, send logan to a closeby objective to guard it by placing him in range to charge to the objective when needed but keeping him out of los as much as possible when the wolfguard bikers and thunderwolf guy sneak around the board , ready to contest other objectives/pick on easy targets

Oh we can do better than this people

Here you go

Canis

2 x 5 Fenrisians

3 x 4 Wolf Guard

each sqaud has 2 guys on foot and 2 guys on bikes, the bikers have bolt guns instead for BP/CCW, one guy on foot has 2 THs.

in Drop pods

What you have here is 2 Small troop squads that cannot score (so you at best draw objective games unless you table your opponent.

A so-so HQ choice

3 squads which cannot ride in their own drop pods because some are on bikes, can't move like bikes because some are on foot, the bikers lose a CC attack for a useless bolter (bikes already have TL bolters), and one really expensive dude in each squad with 2 hammers.
