SW vs. Crimson Fists - What can I expect?

So I have a match in a weeks time and basically he said he is bringing a Crimson Fists army. What will this more than likely to bring to the table? What bonuses will he have and what should I watch out for?

I'm not hugely experienced playing marines vs. marines and so tips towards my list will be great. 1500 point match.

Thanks,

RB

Well if he is ruleswise playing Crimson Fists it means that he is using the Special Character Pedro Kantor from the SM Codex. He is pretty much a basic Chapter Master with a powerfist that can also give those close to him +1 attack, but his main feature is making Sternguard veterans scoring. This means he will probably have atleast one Sternguard unit, and they are simply veterans that have Bolters with special ammo for different effect such as increased range or AP3 and some more I cant remember. However they are not cheap and they die as easily as normal marines.

He may even have Lysander, but at 1500pts, it's one or the other I'd assume. Basically the Fists are a pretty good shooty army.

I'd expect to see something like:

Kantor or Lysander (maybe both, maybe...)

1-3 Sternguard squads

2-3 Tac Squads

1-3 Devastator Squads

That being the core of most CFist armies I have seen. Now, that isnt to say he wont show up with alot of tanks, or assault marines, but agains this isnt common with Fist armies.

Lysander is an Imperial Fist though so depends on how fluffy his army is, but Lysander is a legal option of course.

Well, I have seen him a few times in with CFist armies. A guy up at the place I play tournies runs his CFists all foot slogging with Sternguard and Devs maxed out with tacs following behind. He throws in Lysander for his bolter drill and goes to town. Works quite well actually. He out gunned a tau army and did some nasty things to an IG army.

Ok, thanks for that guys.

I have 2 units on long fangs, all with missles to use and a vindicator. A good start for Heavy Support? I have a couple basic predators to but I havn't been impressed with them.

Got 40+ marines that can be BC, GH or WG but they offer no real anti MEQ, without gearing up WG, other than taking razorbacks with them which I have 5 with a choice of 2 Assault Cannons, 2 Lascannons and 2 heavy bolters.

I was thinking maybe even a WG unit so I can fit in a redeemer aswell?

Then there is 30ish Terminators equipped in many ways. Worth taking for the standard power weapons?

Finally what for my HQ. I am trying to avoid named characters. Haven't used any in ages now as I feel its a big point sink for 2k or less games but also they stand out more and their actions seem much more pivotal in big games when all around them is the bog standard forces fighting. I normally just go with a wolf priest or 2 for fearless and re-rolls to hit against infantry. But played my first game using Rune Priests yesterday where I had them sit back in the Long Fang squads and use living lightning.

Some extras I have. I have 1 of each land raider variant. 5 land speeders with magnetised weapons so can switch anything about with 2 Typhoons as options to take. Overall I have 6 rhino/pred/razor chassis available to use and 2 drop pods.

Recommendations? I really haven't found a solid list for myself when fighting marines as of yet.

Thanks for all the replies guys. When he said it was a crimsons fist army I was expecting some big game chaging rules or something but it sounds like he could just have a character a bit similar to logan grimnar, power weapon/unit counts as scoring etc.

If you are designing a list to go against him the best thing to know is what he will expect. If he thinks you will be bringing Long Fangs, Bring Blood Claws. If he gears up to take out a lot of rhinos, only bring 2 or 3 Land raiders.

What do you normally play that he knows about?

See if he was playing against sisters of battle he'd automatically win.

For of course he has Pedro kantor , man of love, conqueror of senoritas, moistener of pantaloons. The sisters may not resist his mediterranian charm.

But in all seriousness I hope my perception of the SM codex holding no candle to us wolves is just because my friends that play vanilla are rly bad :/
