Canis Wolfborn Assembly

I'm no veteran builder of Fantasy stuff, so I'm not used to (comparative) ginormous metal models like Canis. Is there anything I should be aware of when building him?

Also, do I need to pin each of Fangir's legs and head? I'm seeing big, blocky joins, I can't fathom needing to pin anything except for perhaps the one loose paw.

Hail brother!

I myself have not pinned any of the parts of the Wolf itself, a good superglue does it, just make sure you go over the spots where you glue him together with a file first for perfect fit.

Take your time for priming, the fur on the wolf can be a pain in the ass, I recommend going over it a second time with a brush and watered down Chaos Black after using the spray can to eliminate all metal shining through.

For painting the wolf, I suggest not to glue him to his base before finishing the underbelly and the legs, it just makes it easier to get to all the spots.

Assembly wise I painted the rider Torso and head first, before adding the painted arms and backpack, also makes life easier.

So, I hope that helps a little....and for motivational purposes here's mine :

PS: Canis sucks, I vote for a conversion to a Wolflord :D .

Don't know about that, I think I might want Canis for when I have to swim through my friend's Tyranids...

... How does the superglue not screw up the paint work when you do this?

First, you just don't do it the messy way :) .

Fun aside, I used a little ball of Greenstuff for each paws underside, then gently applied superglue on and around the flattened GS and finally put it on its base and that was that- never fell off, it's solid as a rock.

Plus, even if you have to make some minor beauty repairs on the paws, that's nothing compared to the waste of time and nerves when you glue him to its base before painting, I guess you just have to trust me on that one :P .

And there's always the chance the additional snow on the base covers it all up nicely.

That's my personal opinion at least.

I'm not keen at assembling metal models but Canis was ok to do. I didn't pin at all and just used superglue. I needed a bit of greenstuff along the head/chain but only a tiny amount. Looks ok now it's painted, but dear god, the fur is a pain to undercoat! I didn't spray mine, just painted chaos black on in a few thin layers.

Hi, I've done my Wolf Lord conversion based on Canis few days ago so I've done in this way: no pinning, a nice glue [army painter one] and some GS in the gaps.

Putted on a resin base. For painting better not glue the arms until finished [i've done this mistake...].

Here's the result, hoping to be useful.
