Ive just got back into the hobby after a good few years out. I hate playing with unpainted

miniatures - so I had to get an army painted quick! To help stay motivated - me and 3 other

lads at Morpeth Gaming Club bought tickets for last weekends Warp Storm III tourney at

Maelstrom!

Heres the final painted 1750pt Army - They won 'Best Painted Army' at Warp Storm III

somehow - so I was pleased as punch! (Got drubbed in 4/6 games mind haha)

Excellent IHs! The Librarian and the termies are particularly impressive. I really like your use of red and gold to off set the the black armour and the dark bases.

I would love to see some closer shots of the tacticals and dreads. Great work :eek

Cheers guys.

I'll get some closer shots next time im at my local club. My house is dull and terrible for taking snaps haha.

The Librarian and the Techmarine are the 2 models I took some time over...

The bases are from an ebay shop / user called : http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/wargamestournaments

If these were painted in a hurry, then I'd love to see an Iron Hand model that was given lots of attention to, these are great! It would have been nice to see some bionics sprinkled throughout your marines, but other than that, fantastic :)

You use a surprising amount of gold in your paint scheme. An interesting take on Iron Hands.

Also, I can't tell very well from the pictures, but it looks like the decals you used were not applied properly. They have a slightly milky gloss on the camera that shows up when they are not properly glossed, then matted. I used the same decals, and I kept the milkiness away by coating the model with gloss coat, applying the decal with microsol and microset, putting another gloss coat over the decal, then matt coating the model to have an even finish. This made the decal look painted on, and the transparent parts became invisible. If you do expand your IHs army, make sure you use this method for maximum preservation and presentation.

Otherwise, a job well done.

Yeah cheers mate for the advice.. the decals were a 1st - never used them before (Hate them - always end up with them stuck to me not the minis)

It was a "night before the tourney" rush transfer applying job! I'll admit it didnt go well... I did try the varnish... but they had creases in places so I

coated them in matt varnish and eventually ended up painting over the top of the transfer / surrounding areas...

It looks okay in person - but like you say - a bit milky / shiny on camera and in certain lights.

So in short - next time - ill ask a pro for advice OR paint my own!

<_<

Heres the squad close ups:

(Flash makes them look a bit grainy)
