embalancer
Ok rather than spending hour writing an IA for it to be so artfully torn down i figured just do a rough outline and see what people think and build it up from their ... please be nice :eek “I would turn to my brothers when I am in need of their strengths – I would turn to my brother Blood Ravens for some forgotten lore, I would turn to the Grey Knights for a brother who was pure without reproach, as I would turn to the Black Templars for zealousness and small mindedness, I would turn to the Wolves of Fenris to charge at my side or for an opinion on good ale, and if I needed a ship to be boarded I would never hesitate in turning to the Celestial Fists.” Titus Cain, The Wanderer 973.M41 Origins - Sometime during 9th founding ancient forge world retaken with 384 suits of terminator armour found in tact - Tactica suggest to the high lords that a specialised ship boarding force is needed in the Mortaroo sector due to the strategic supply line to many surrounding sectors and also for the highly active raiders and Eldar/Ork pirates - Realising there is limited need for 7 scouts “scouts” in ship boardings the high lords instruct Ezekial Melvic a black templar and deathwatch commander (So is more tolerant of psykers) in the Segmentum Pacificus to become the new forces chapter master and also calls to highly ranked Black Templars in the Deathwatch to serve beside him to help train in the ways of Black Templar (using initiates instead of scouts) - Master of the Forge and Chief Librarian drawn from Salamanders chapter to preserve the 100 suits of Terminator armour that this chapter will be given but does lead to tension between them and the chapter master Homeworld - Chapter fortress-monastery based on the Battlebarge Eternal Fury - Being such a space based chapter the chapter prefers to recruit from the young ratings from the battle fleets Curxistis, Mortaroo and Zintal all of which are indebted to chapter over the millennia it also tests its own chapter serfs - Also the chapter from the nearby Hive world of Jinktial Prime generally it prefers its neonates come from more technologically based worlds Combat doctrine - Specialists in boarding actions bar none - Due to this specialisation the chapter is one of the few chapters that can clad it’s entire 1st company in Terminator armour, but because of this high concentration of terminator armour is the pay off is that the Celestial fists have only 3 Land Raiders and very few Land speeders - Generally its recruits follow the black templar model of having its initiates mixed in with their tutoring battle-brothers - Planet side prefer drop pod assaults in the midst of the enemy and have made extensive use of razorbacks since their inception Organization - Codex used as a frame work and adopted where it can - 1st Company is standard codex and 2nd and 3rd are made up of 100 battle-brothers each the other 7 companies are made of a mixture of full battle brothers and initiates - Due to the nature of space combat most of the scouting is done by the librarians which has made them experts at augury and also are highly skilled at teleporting as well - Though the chapter does have 15 scouts that are similar to SW wolf scouts and specialize in assassination and sabotage or do scouting on psychically warded areas have come under the auspices of the Librarium though the reason for this is lost to time Belief - Belief that the Emperor was the greatest of men and though originally quite a zealous chapter this has lessened with the influence of the black templars has waned Gene seed - Salamander gene seed Battlecry Leader “The emperor is our fire” Everyone else “And we are his fury” Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/232584-ia-the-celestial-fists/ Share on other sites
NightrawenII
Ok rather than spending hour writing an IA for it to be so artfully torn down *snicker* Hello and don't worry I will be nice... B) - Tactica suggest to the high lords that a specialised ship boarding force is needed in the Mortaroo sector due to the strategic supply line to many surrounding sectors and also for the highly active raiders and Eldar/Ork pirates - Eh, not this again. Defending space lines is the job of Imperial Navy and boarding action is rather desperate tactic if you ask me. Not to mention that boarding Eldar vessel(s) is quite epic feat and Ork ship quite insane idea. using initiates instead of scouts - BT's "scouts" are called neophytes and BT don't have Scouts. :) Master of the Forge and Chief Librarian drawn from Salamanders chapter - Why? BT have techmarines... - Also the chapter from the nearby Hive world of Jinktial Prime generally it prefers its neonates come from more technologically based worlds - I don't understand. ^_^ Combat doctrine - Specialists in boarding actions bar none - MISS (Me? I'm So Super!) Black Templars, Black Dragons and Minotaurs are renowned for their fleet actions. but because of this high concentration of terminator armour is the pay off is that the Celestial fists have only 3 Land Raiders and very few Land speeders - Why? - Due to the nature of space combat most of the scouting is done by the librarians which has made them experts at augury and also are highly skilled at teleporting as well - MISS and nothing new. Gene seed - Salamander gene seed Salamanders doctrine is short range firefights, you don't need these BT trainers. See, it didn't hurt. Right? ;) Anyway, Chapters based around combat doctrines are shallow and one-dimensional. Give them more in-depth characterization, thoughtful theme or some kind of internal struggle. The aim is not "Look, we are awesome! Lolz." but "Look, what cool things we are doing.". Cheers, NightrawenII. Octavulg
- Sometime during 9th founding ancient forge world retaken with 384 suits of terminator armour found in tact Ah, the siren call of Terminator armor. I know it well. Don't be so greedy. :P For one thing, who retook the Forge World? They'd want it. For another, there are dozens of chapters with long histories who need that stuff and put their requests in a few millenia ago. - Tactica suggest to the high lords that a specialised ship boarding force is needed in the Mortaroo sector due to the strategic supply line to many surrounding sectors and also for the highly active raiders and Eldar/Ork pirates To a certain extent, all Space Marines are ship-to-ship specialists. It's part of being, well, Marines. - Realising there is limited need for 7 scouts “scouts” in ship boardings the high lords instruct Ezekial Melvic a black templar and deathwatch commander (So is more tolerant of psykers) in the Segmentum Pacificus to become the new forces chapter master and also calls to highly ranked Black Templars in the Deathwatch to serve beside him to help train in the ways of Black Templar (using initiates instead of scouts) Why would the High Lords call on the Black Templars? The Black Templars don't play well with the High Lords (or with anyone, really), they don't follow orders, and they don't really recognize anyone else's authority. Using their geneseed, maybe. Letting a Black Templar teach impressionable new Space Marines? Not likely. - Due to this specialisation the chapter is one of the few chapters that can clad it’s entire 1st company in Terminator armour, but because of this high concentration of terminator armour is the pay off is that the Celestial fists have only 3 Land Raiders and very few Land speeders You don't actually need that many Terminators for boarding. You just need enough for the front line. Organization- Codex used as a frame work and adopted where it can Why would a Black Templar teach them this? * * * Not bad. I love a bit o' the old ultra space violence. But greed for equipment hurts an IA (I should know, I've got several drafts of two different chapters containing nothing but shiny ways to find Terminators). Any ideas for unique philosophies, viewpoints, or attitudes? Other quirks to make them unique?
