Favourite moment in the HH series

Hi everyone,

I just finished reading The First Heretic and I have to say that my favourite moment (so far) in the Horus Heresy series would have to be...

When Corax is about to kill Lorgar and Batman Curze comes out of nowhere.

What's yours? :)

Either, in Raven's Flight when Corax launches his solo flank attack or Night Haunter's comments to Lorgar after his "rescue"

The Last Chuch

Uriah looked into the Emperor’s face as he spoke, now seeing past the glamours and the magnificence to the heart of an individual who had lived a thousand lives and walked the Earth for longer than could be imagined. He saw the ruthless ambition and the molten core of violence at the Emperor’s heart.

One of many great moments though.

Oh and i know kinda pre-heresy but it's in age of darkness ergo applicable!

Horus' first appearance.
The very same.

It was jaw-dropping.

"Please," the god said, "not so formal".

The quote may be off, I'm away from my house and my books at the moment.

The one from Legion was pretty good, but my favorite has to be from Fulgrim -

- where the daemon lets Fulgrim realises what he has done, and talks Fulgrim into giving up his soul, and then it's realised that he has just consigned himself to eternal torture

The first time I read it, I didn't know beforehand... what happened to all the primarchs following the Heresy, so the effect was rather strong.

Batman :cuss

Lorgar v RG at the start of The First Heretic, and both Council of Nikea parts in Prospero Burns and A Thousand Sons.

This may not be my actual favorite if I really sit down and think, and re-read stuff, but I absolutely love in "The Iron Within"

when Vastopol ambushes Krendl and the other traitor Iron Warriors and later when the loyalist retreat and bring down the fortress on top of the attackers

Another very favorite moment is the end of Raven's Flight. Very gripping.

I second the first part as one of my favorite moments. Insane levels of awesome going on there.

Every moment of

Corax's rampage across Istvaan after the legions betray them, killing several possessed, beating the snot out of Lorgar and butchering masses of Iron Warriors. Raven's Flight just seemed to be one massive statement of "this is why we don't have official rules for the primarchs in 40K."

What is this quote from again?

My favorite is from Raven's Flight I think if I remember correctly.

I forget exactly how it goes but the gyst of it was where Corax sees his

brother Angron and thinks in his mind that no one can stand against him.

Except for Horus and maybe Sanguinius

I have to say the 1st Chapter of Horus Rising I enjoyed so much it got me back into 40K after a 10 year absence. Saw the book when crashing on someones floor on tour and soon as I got home I ordered every book in the series (I think was only up to FOTE at that time).

So many fun moments in the Heresy series. I'd say one of the best is in 'Little Horus' Pretty much the whole story is one awesome character study set in one small operation. So while it's not a 'moment' per se, it's still a great and gripping read.

A 'proper' moment in the series that always made me go 'awesome' was when Leman Russ howls in 'A Thousand Sons' and it's so loud and horrifying to the Sons that some of the Thousand Sons actually die.
