Týr
I quite enjoyed it when Brynngar Sturmdreng is busy beating the Blood Claws in BFTA, when Cestus walks in and proceeds to teach the Space Wolf a lesson in manners! please dont use anything from BftA, its best if we just all ignore the book and maybe it'll quietly go away... WLK I agree. Perhaps there is a way to sacrifice that book to some false gods, and get cookies in return! Kodanshi
'Your Grace?''My sword,' Corswain reached a hand out, as if he could touch the opposing groups of warriors. 'Where is it, Your Grace?' 'Gone,' Corswain closed his remaining eye. 'I left it in a primarch's spine.' Favourite moment of the whole series so far. EDIT: From Savage Weapons in the Age of Darkness book. That seals the deal for me. MUST buy this book now. I actually laughed out loud reading that! I’ve generally been a bit lax when it comes to the short stories collections… Is that story by ADB, by the way? It has something of his sense of humour in the wording! Son of Rawl
Prospero Burns He leaned down towrads Hawser like a parent addressing a child. Brannick
I also very much like the confrontation within False Gods where Horus goes to kill Eugan Temba. The scene as Horus finds Temba with Verulam Moy already dead - Horus then cursing Temba for being a foul manifestation of a man. Emperor, Horus and Sanguinius any one? Really enjoyed this particular comparison, subtle but great. *thumbs up* Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/232714-favourite-moment-in-the-hh-series/page/4/#findComment-2961819 Share on other sites

BJORNin83
The Outcast Dead The chessgame at the end where the Emperor explains that sometimes the only way to win in regicide is to sacrifice your Emperor to prevent the enemy from winning. oooo man thats a good one. Capt. Taurus
I recently re-read "A Thousand Sons" and I must say the part where: Magnus and Russ approach each other before the Library in the Phoenix Crag where they were previously fighting side by side then turned against each other because of their different philosophies (or whatever it is that Russ calls his philosophy) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/232714-favourite-moment-in-the-hh-series/page/4/#findComment-2963016 Share on other sites
Crimson Hawk
I love in A Thousand Sons when the Thousand Sons are making their final stand in Tizca, knowing they will be remembered as traitors and heretics, but refusing to watch their world burn. Awesomesauce. On a related note, Arthava' sacrifice in the Outcast Dead was pretty heroic. I also agree with Bjornin83- it's so hard to pick! Hrolleif
I don't know if I can pick out a single moment. The whole series (despite several continuity errors and other small, small problems) has been excellent so far. I tend to get very wrapped up in these books so many parts of the series have left me torn or feeling agast such as feeling the Word Bearers' shame while kneeling in the ashes of Monarchia , feeling the Lion's wrath as he pronounces "such is the fate of all traitors!" as he denies them that artillery in Fallen Angels , watching the Luna Wolves and the Mournival tear themselves apart , or Leman Russ being seemingly reluctant to carry out his campaign on Prospero as he reaches out to Magnus via comm . I don't think I can honestly label one my fav. Mykra
This series has so many amazing moments, but one easily stands out for me: Loken at the end of his duel. Tarik cut down, Loken himself brutally wounded and pinned under a 'ton' of rubble. His consciousness is getting a little warbly, and then the orbital bombardment starts to explode above him. If it was a movie I would expect something like 'Mad World' or 'Welcome to Lunar Industries' to start playing over the scene, ending with a close-up on his eyes. Just...amazing. And I end up having to defend it much like Star Wars. I don't care about the prequels. I don't care about the special editions. I don't care about the books (although I hear some aren't half bad.) No matter what Lucas screws with, he can't take those three original movies away from me. That moment is the same way. Another beautiful moment has to come from 'A Thousand Sons'. When Phosis charges Valdor, ready to annihilate him and not realizing what's happened to his body. Valdor says something along the lines of 'Monster!' and the realization of what he's become hits Phosis and he just whispers 'I know' and let's the Custodes kill him. GeneralSejanus
hey, first time poster, long time lurker. my favorite moment so far has to be in the newest short story book (forget what its called) when Khârn is interrogating the thousand sons who returned to prospero. the thousand son is wondering why Khârn came and it dawns on him that Khârn came looking for a cure for chaos. something like "you came to find a cure" gave me chills reading it. I think it was so effective because Khârn is the last person who you would think would want to be cured. The 13th Goat
For me, it has to be the discovery in Legion; When John Grammaticus realizes and announces that the Primarch of the Alpha Legion are in fact twins! This changed the entire outlook of the 20th Legion and gave them something that up till that point they didn't have; a hook. Alpha Legion fans loved it, other players thought it was cool and best of all it was officially requested by Games Workshop, not just a cool idea implemented by an author. Ethrion
Too many awesome moments to single one out but off the top of my head when 'Bear' is revealed to be an incorrect pronunciation and it's actually Bjorn!! Or where the Thousand Sons are cleaning their bolt guns with their minds, that's just how awesome they are. Or the very end of Know No Fear where the mark is still running on the battle of Calth. Or all those moments throughout Fulgrim which illustrate how twisted they are getting, the remembrancer painter devolving, the concert that turns the first noise marines, the final moments of Fulgrim where the veil is lifted and he realizes his errors before being locked away inside the daemon's mind. Also the battle between the Lion and Kurze, that was a brilliantly written primarch battle. Or even the heroic last stand of the loyalist elements of the traitor legions on Istvaan III. Too many great moments in my opinion! :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/232714-favourite-moment-in-the-hh-series/page/4/#findComment-2988853 Share on other sites
cathar the great
I agree with Ethrion above me about the Bear/Bjorn moment. I actually put the book down for a second and thought, "Okay, cool, now to make a Pre-Heresy Wolves force with him in leading it." I didn't though. Not yet ^^ Also another epic moment was in First Heretic when Argel Tal and the other traitor forces land on Istvaan and stand before the retreating Loyalist forces. Especially because Tal is aware of the significance of the event. Deep down he is aware of the wrongness and that such a trap goes against everything they stood for, but he can't change anything about it. The heresy has already started but this is a turning moment, when the traitors reveal their true color and there is definitely no going back after that. ADB really outdid himself here. I actually paused at the end of the chapter for a day or so before reading on, savoring the epicness of the moment. The last stand of the loyalists at the end of the beginning trilogy was also very cool. Anvilarium
From Know No Fear: "What does not kill me.... Is not trying hard enough" - Roboute Guilliman, Primarch of the XIII Legion says this after being blown out of his flagship onto the hard vacuum of space without a helmet on (!!), and having a zero gravity fight with a squad of Word Bearers during his trek back across the hull (and punching their heads clean off!!), and then reappearing on the bridge to the amazement of Marious Gage :D Awesome ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/232714-favourite-moment-in-the-hh-series/page/4/#findComment-2988877 Share on other sites
Techmarine Andreas
Well having just finished Know no Fear I got a new favorite moment and new favorite character in the whole Heresy Series. It has to be Sgt Aeonid Thiel (Marked for censure) and the best moment is when we find out what he was marked for censure for, and the Apothacaries comments to the CPT regarding such. just a truelly amazing moment in the book IMO Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/232714-favourite-moment-in-the-hh-series/page/4/#findComment-3009524 Share on other sites
Prince of Blissful Discord
Here's mine; In Know No Fear; Where the Skitari tell the Ultramarines they make jokes in binary. In The Primarchs; I'm not even going into much detail here it's that good (seriously you do not want this spoiled), but how Omegon acts through the whole thing. In The First Heretic; Malcador getting slapped by Lorgar only to get back up relativally unharmed. And Alpharius's first "appearence" in Legion.
