I thaught i had it down then i looked at it while it was done and was like ^_^. here are some pics they may be a lil big. http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww94/dinklebumm/IMGP0107.jpg http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww94/dinklebumm/IMGP0108.jpg http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww94/dinklebumm/IMGP0113.jpg http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww94/dinklebumm/IMGP0116.jpg http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww94/dinklebumm/IMGP0106.jpg I was debating if I should add some rust to peice of sheet metal. I also dont like the way his right shoulder pad came out im thinking of redoing it. I was planing on showing some more stages but i got caried away while i was painting ;). Sry if the pics are to big. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/232778-wip-pre-heresy-ultramarine/ Share on other sites
subtlebrush
He looks awesome. You seem to have the damage aspect down I would just suggest adding some more grime at the bottom of the legs/feet a bit more. Other then that you did an amazing job. Cant wait to see more! dinklebumm
I really like that gold, its very "rich". Mind giving a recipe? ;) First i basecoated in bestial brown, then went over it in 2 layers of shining gold each diluted 2:1 water to paint, then i mixed mithril silver and shining gold 1:1 and highlighted where the light hit. for the shoulder pads i did a wash of devlin mud after i did the shining gold then i went over where the light hit in shining gold again then the highlight of mithril silver and shining gold highlight. Firepower
That shade of blue reminds me of Night Lords more than Ultramarines, especially with the generous helping of gold trim and the currently lacking dashes of white. Still, pretty good. I'd try limiting the gashes to only a couple of large ones with smaller peppered bits, and spread them around instead of limiting them to the waist down. Ah crap, didn't notice the dates. Why does this keep happening lately?! How are people even finding the 2 year old threads to begin with?!
