750pt Space Marine Dominion Fleet (BFG)

Hello all,

I put up a 500pt fleet list a couple months ago and then never went any further with it. Now my interest in BFG has been renewed and I started scratch-building my own fleet. I decided I wanted a slightly larger fleet then before, but still keep it small enough so that I can get away with using only one Strike Criuser and not suffer terribly for it.

Capital Ships

Strike Cruiser, Extra Shield, Master of the Fleet, Terminators- 260pts

Escorts

Squadrons Alpha and Beta:

2 Sword Class Rapid Strike Vessels- 40pts (80pts Total)

1 Firestorm Class Rapid Strike Vessel- 45pts

125pts per Squadron (250pts Total)

Squadrons Gamma and Delta

3 Hunter Class Destroyers- 40pts (120pts Total)

120pts per Squadron (240pts Total)

I decided to only run one Strike Cruiser because this fleet is going along with my 40k army, which should never grow larger then one company.

I am a little bummed that you need to keep at least half your Strike Cruisers the basic profile. It forces me to have Thunderhawks though, so I have some ordanence defense.

I know the Terminators are expensive, but if I dropped them I could only get one more escort or upgrade the close support escorts to their marine counter parts, so I decided to splurge.

C&C would be appreciated, I have yet to play an actual game of BFG and can alway use more advice.

I honestly don't know why you wouldn't take a nova over the firestorm. I can see saving a few points with the sword since you are only gaining a bit of speed, but the Nova gives you L/F/R on your lance rather than being the only thing in the squadron that has to shoot forward.

You will also want more than 3 hunters to a squadron. three just don't have the hitting power so combine gamma and delta into a single squadron and you'll get better results (more torpedoes to a salvo =more chance of doing damage).

At 750 points you don't need to take a fleet commander and terminators are flat out wasting points. Seriously, you have that single SC so jacked up that all anyone has to do to beat you is kill that thing and disengage.

Last, this fleet won't hold up well at all. You've basically handed over all ordnance to your opponent. One SC is only two squadrons of thunderhawks. That's not giving you anything to protect your escorts and with high enough AC superiority they will start taking a toll. You should really take at least two SC.

SC + shield 160

SC + shield 160

5x Gladius 225

5x Hunter 200

745

That would give you a much more balanced fleet. You trade two escorts for an extra SC.

i have tried using only a single SC in 750 points and it simply doesent work. a pair should be alot better  like Vaaish also said lance isent needed in a marine list as bombardment cannons perform the same function (also doing critical on a 4+ )
