Space Wolf Incentive

alright so Mav came up with this great idea that helps both the player and B&C in the long run.

"I realize that not allot of people have opportunities to casually play every weekend. It's hard enough as it is in today's economy. Let alone find a decent group of people that you can rely on to play with, or even show up! my idea is simple. For every day you play 40K, you put a dollar in a jar and ONLY a dollar. Why a dollar? because nobody really notices a dollar, and to be honest it won't really break your bank/wallet either. Anyway, if you win a majority of games in a day, the dollar stays! if you lose a majority of games in that day... you return that dollar in your pocket. Now this is a monthly thing.. at the end of each month, you have yourself a total. The money can either go to buying new paints or eventually even a blister (depending on how many games you play in a month). Well, since I frequent and post ONLY at Bolter and Chainsword, I've decided the money earned per month will be donated to B&C" - MaveriK

So what do you guys think? good idea or bad? either way, this is a great opportunity to learn and grow as a tactician and hobbyist, while at the same time help better Bolter and Chainsword. Why not right? we're all here for FREE. Not to mention, we learn so much from other users. To be honest, this is one of the BEST sources for Space Marines, and Wolves in general. Not to mention, I've made some really great friends here, BLOOD CLAW PACKMATES you know who you are! I'm going to start this next month, and I hope other people here also follow by example.

I think it's a fantastic idea. I would probably juggle the amount a bit though.

I understand why it's only a dollar, but maybe two categories: Frequent player : 1 dollar (or pound) a game. Or Infrequent player: 5 dollars ( 3 pounds) a game.

I love the idea though.

More power to you. But then why not just donate instead of inventing a complex ritual?..

for the same reasons when you buy something for yourself with your own money, that thing you end up buying is worth more to you, because it came from your own hard work/money. Kinda like buying your own car instead of having it given to you. How can anyone appreciate the value or meaning of earning something if you restrict yourself from learning and growing as an individual? If that makes any difference or sense! Sure I could just donate, easily... heck anyone can just write a cheque to some charity and have that piece of mind. This idea is meant to have a goal in mind, to work at something. By playing more games, growing as a player while having a good time and helping the board. You say it's complex, sure if you look it that way, but then again you don't see allot of people going out of their way helping and donating. Then again maybe this is just a Canadian thing????

I think your missing the idea and my point... completely ignoring the purpose and examples given.

No. You're missing mine.

really? your gonna go there? sorry but the pissing contest is next Saturday by the monkey bars. I see and understand your point, however completely dismissing mine by stating yours feels ridiculous, and almost petty. I come up with some incentive to do something good for myself and hopefully other people here, and lead by example by enjoying the hobby while helping B&C, yet you come along stating it's best done in silence, and is easier to JUST donate. That's all fine and fair, and your entitled to that opinion but completely missing my point by stating yours first over mine is just lazy.

Lets keep this civil, its meant to be for the good of B&C so fighting about this isn't going to help.

I think its a great idea, for the fact that i only play about 5 times a year and am good at loosing (Except for my last torny) :)

Ill just donate 10 euro's when i can :)

I always thought that charity is a goal in itself. And that it's best done in silence.

But maybe that's just a Russian thing.

I Russia, donations give YOU!

'neways, silent or no, complex motivation or no, charity is a good thing. Different people need different ways to go about it, and need different insentive, so the more ways are out there, the better.

as for me, I'll donate when I can be arsed to, to what I can be arsed to, and however much I can be arsed to. So sue me :)

Appreciate the idea here and if that is how you wish to donate then have it at. That said, you can still use the old DONATIONS threads scattered around the forum or wait till we change over to 3.2 and there should be a much easier donation process set up where you can do 1 timers or monthly or whatever at that point if you like to help in keeping the site going.

Don't forget that next week we will also be putting the new 2011 dice, patches and army bags up for sale and a small portion of that goes towards the site as well.

Thanks all.
