Iron Warriors 78th Great Company 'The Gore Knights'

Hi, my fellow Marine-wannabees (come on, you know deep down you want to!)

this will be my first log on Bolter & Chainsword, and will follow my attempts to make a cool-looking Iron Warriors army, along with a number of chaotic guardsmen and mutants.

old army pic:

new work in progress terminators:

http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd366/lokkorex/100_1953.jpg

chaos guardsmen (first one's got a grenade launcer):

http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd366/lokkorex/100_1948.jpg

i also have logs up and running on Warseer and Iron Warrior's 4th Grand Company.

if you want better pics of a model let me now and I'll put them up as soon as possible.

From what I can see, it looks like you are well on your way to a nice looking Iron Warriors army. I like the metal on the terminators, looks like you got good coverage without getting the color too bright. The Necromunda models make some good Chaos guardsmen also.

Ok, camera use suggestion: Set your camera to "macro" mode- on most point-and-shoot cameras, its the mode that looks like a flower. You might have to get to it through "scene" mode. Also, make sure that the camera registers that its focused on your figures; right now its focusing on your backdrop instead.

You might have to move your camera farther away and zoom in.

Try moving back a bit. Most modern cameras can take such massive pictures you could do it from six inches away and still get decent resolution.
Six to eight inches is about right with a macro lens on a POS. My DSLR actually has a minimum range of about 10 inches, but I can optically zoom in to make up the difference. I don't know what the magnification factor is since everything in DSLR-land is measured in millimeters of focal length.

Since these are web-resolution pics, you can crop it in a lot and not lose anything meaningful.

alright, i'll try using normal macro next time at some distance, and then use zoom to get a closer pic.

i was supposed to use that way with the latest photos, but discovered the super-macro function, and decided to try it out.

over on the Iron Warriors 4th Grand Company forum there's a list of players and what grand company they play, and i think the highest number is currently 127, so yeah, theres a lot of us around.

anywho, here's the final member for my already finished terminator squad:

my mutant warlord has a hat now!

http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd366/lokkorex/Bild5009.jpg

and the khorne berzerker guy has gotten a bit brighter, thanks to the lighting:

http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd366/lokkorex/Bild5015.jpg

i think i need to give him a wash of gryphonne sepia to knock the shine of him.

the terminator is nearly finished:

http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd366/lokkorex/Bild6010.jpg

http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd366/lokkorex/Bild6011.jpg

the sorcerer with the mark of nurgle has seen some progress too:

http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd366/lokkorex/Bild6006.jpg

http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd366/lokkorex/Bild6007.jpg

http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd366/lokkorex/Bild6008.jpg

i recently stripped most of what was left of my first army, a DIY space marine with a truly noobish backstory to boot, and plan to make some red corsairs out of them. unfortunately, most of their backpacks have disappeared into nothingness, so i won't do any work on them until i've secured some replacement. :P

luckily enough, the heavy weapon troopers are still intact, so here are the basis for my three havoc squads:

http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd366/lokkorex/Bild6013.jpg

http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd366/lokkorex/Bild6014.jpg

and finally, decided to start building some mutants and zombies:

http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd366/lokkorex/Bild6016.jpg

http://i1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd366/lokkorex/Bild6015.jpg

Zombie 1: "It's... so... Beautiful!"

Zombie 2: "ima gunna shiv ya guud!"

Zombie 3: "Hug me daddy!". :ermm:
