MaveriK
oh man... Soundwave, Shockwave, WOOW! LOL one of my favs! right up there with Scorponok and Grimlock MaveriK? Using chaos bits? P'shaaw, I say! I don't want to look at it as chaos bits.... I like to think of it as the cooler looking bits! the in-between, the anti-hero of 40K LOL *nobody burst my bubble, I'm loving this fantasy* it fits my Lost Company, and the primal look they have going! :) kinda like how when we were all growing up, playing with the good toys.. before the materials became child proof. Toys like GI Joe's or Transformers, didn't you once wonder why some of the bad guys looked cooler than the good guys? LOL i know right. i mean look at kids toys now to what we had when we where small lol. remember when the GI Joe guns were made out of hard plastic.. the kind that will poke your eyes. Now their made out of soft plastic you can't even poke anyone's eyes with! we had it good back then, kids have it easy these days.. easy and lazy. LOL anyway we should get back on topic! Blacksad
grimlock is an autobot... granted, a dinobot who wants to lead in optimus's stead, but still... but I digress, ontopicness should be our priority. so... a space wolves that don't use wolves as their primary totem animal... I'd suggest having a look at the series "game of thrones"... 7 kingdoms, + the wilds beyond the wall, and the wilds beyond the sea. in that series, most kingdoms have a totem animal (wolf, dragon, elk, horse, lion, ...) and ofc there are the non animal totems like the veil, which would be a decent thing for a priest, or a unit of Long Fangs, or scouts so you could have a unit of Grey Hunters who mostly hail from a fairly flatlanded steppe-like island, and are horsenomads by primairy birth. they would have kept at least some of their religion and customs after their inauguration into the space wolves, for example, their hair is braided into one tall tail, that only gets cut when they lose a fight (cfr game of thrones), the dragons, a pack of blood claws, or wof guard or grey hunters, whom are in their element when the eye of Russ is closest, and the world rips and burns, which can be easily shown by picking out the details in their armour in a fiery red or orange, aswell as their runes, perhaps a cloack of scales instead of fur. The elk, with antlers, as has been suggested (look at the wood elf models for Orion and Lord with sword and spear) then there's the creatures mentioned in some of the space wolf novels: the ice trolls... in the new plastic kit of trolls for fantasy, there's bound to be several bits that can be adapted to using on a spacemarine model, and you can always arm your models with clubs and bones instead of chainswords by simply cutting them off of fantasy models and glueing them onto the arms of a space marine. it doesn't really matter if a weapon looks like it's too big for a model that size, you're talking about geneticaly enhanced superhumans here. they can swing a thighbone of a T-rex like it was a rapier, no sweat then there's ofcourse the fact that, during our short summers, Fenris is a planet mostly composed of sea, so fish-like and shellfish-like totems would be viable scouts dressed in a sort of scalemale that relfects and deflects light in such a way that they seem to be mirrages or an amalgan of colours blinding the foe would easily be explained fluffwise as being part of a fisherman's tribe, and using aspects of their ancient quarry's defence themselves, the reflecting scales of a fish. also for krakens and other great denizens of the deep, some simple greenstuffed tentacles adorning the armour (a tentacle wrapped around the shoulders and arms for example would be an easy to do touch Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/232995-help-with-fluff/page/2/#findComment-2805814 Share on other sites
Sven_Bloodhowl
Okay guys, been scouring bits sites and what not and have finally come up with a definitive list Rune Priest - Green stuff a raven feather cape, chooser of the slain represented by a raven 1 Grey Hunter Pack - Kept stock with the wolfy bits and what not 1 Grey Hunter Pack - Wolf Guard with antlers(from bretonnian knight head) on helmet and armed with a spear (wood elf/chaos marauder spear) rest of the squad will have antler knecklaces or little bits of hide/buckskin. Wolf Standard with stags head at the top. 1 Grey Hunter Pack - Wolf Guard with big pelt (empire knight of the white wolf cloak) and 2xPowerfist(not the best weapon loadout but i've got an idea for a conversion) rest of the squad will have either small greenstuff pelts or claws decorating them. Wolf standard with bear claw at the top. 1 Grey Hunter Pack - squad features lot of raven imagery, greenstuff feathers and raven guard shoulder pads, joined by the rune priest. Wolf Standard with a raven perched at the top. 1 Wolf Guard Pack - TDA with chaos terminator heads, feature lots of long shaggy pelts. 2 Long Fang Packs - modelled with Chaos Havoc's missile launchers (I just love the look of these) decorated with sea serpent cloaks (dark elf corsairs) and featuring sea serpent imagery (using the dark elf corsairs helmet decorations), possibly use alpha legion shoulderpads. Both squads subtly different, possibly representing two sea creatures that are very a like, provides for fluff of a friendly squad rivalry. As to Wulfebane's question, it will be a personal wolf lord that i have created. The idea i have in mind is that during the trial where they're sent into the wild to kill a wolf (don't have codex on me so can't remember the name of it) he returned with not only the pelt of a fenrisian wolf but that of an ice bear and a great elk to. When asked why he had brought them all back he responded by saying that they had all provided him with something during the trial: The elk had provided him with the energy to continue when he consumed it's flesh, the bear provided him with warmth thanks to its pelt and that the wolf had provided him with acceptance into the ranks of the space wolves; and that he would honour them all because of this, as he rose in the ranks of the Space wolves many of his brothers began to be swayed by this belief and when he finally rose to command of his great company the company accepted his belief without question. I still need a name for him though. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/232995-help-with-fluff/page/2/#findComment-2806148 Share on other sites
