Ravenwing and CCW

Pinning Test

Recommended Posts

In the Codex, the war-gear entry for a biker mentions "Bolt pistol or Chainsword":

So, does that mean a biker only gets *one* CCW, and thus gets no extra attack?

Also, the wording for a sergeant's equipment options is "the Sergeant may take a power weapon or power fist".

Does that mean that the Sergeant can take the power weapon *on top* of his CCW, and thus has an extra attack?

It hasn't been faq'd so yes that is correct. As for the sarge if he upgrades and gets a power weapon or fist he'll then have two CCW(not that it matters with the fist) because it doesn't say he replaces any weapons just that he gets the upgrade.

In essence they get the attacks in their profile and the sarge gets an extra attack only if he upgrades to a power weapon.

The first thing (among two or three) to fix with the next faq/codex/version, has to be the CC Ravenwing. Sure it's a great antitank lil' unit, but the banner upgrade option really goes to waste.

In a 6 men bike squad, with a PW sarge its nice to get those extra attacks... not precisely over the top but again, only 25 points... the apothecary on the other hand is a steal at 15.

Yes. RW bikes(and SM bikes) suck in close combat. So, you stay away and shoot with them. However, note than C: SM command Squads that are given bikes do have that extra close combat weapons(and can be armed with other things besides) and so do get that +1 attack(with a few exceptions). C: SM Command Squads on bikes can hit pretty hard, but RW "Command Squads" do not, they being just a regular RAS with the Apothecary and Standard Bearer upgrades(i.e. they have no extra CCWs).

No. Read the rules for power fists.

That is right, normal bikers do not get extra attack, but you could trick them out so you have one guy with melta/pistol and melta/ccw or flamer if thats the kind of squad you want. And mix normal guys with ccw and normal guys with pistol, kind of a 1 wound nob bike squad for wound allocation.
