Useful link for color finding

Recommended Posts

The idea is nice, but a site like this is pretty much useless, I'd say … take two pictures of the same model under different lighting conditions, tinker with the picture's colours before uploading it, change the colour profile of the image, or do any one of a bunch of other things, and it will recommend different paint colours.

I kind of understand what you are saying, but at the same time, I think it is a great idea, because generally you like the colour that is shown in the photo, not necessarily the colour that would be on the model itself...

When you're painting, you must choose a base colour. And after that you mix some paints to change tones, add effects, etc. This is a good tool to help your first step on painting: choosing your palette.

And yes, is very important to start with a good photo ;-) A good photo must be good under any lighting condition, you have to avoid the color-dominant photos or maybe fix it before using this tool, there are some techniques to correct tone and color dominants.

Or maybe simply you like some of the colours that you see in a photo, as it is.
