Hello mates.

Has anyone found good 'wolf head' and pelts, beside the Wolf helmet in SW PW pack and wolf cape in SW Terminator pack box? I dont really like the wolf helmet, and the wolf cape just dont really looks like 'wolf'....

If you found good bits, please share with me. Any bits are fine. Thank you!

Ok, so I don't know how you intend to convert Ragnar (basing him off the original model, etc) so I'll assume you're wanting to mimic the original by having a pelt draped across one shoulder and a stylized version on the other shoulder. I am recently working on a Ragnar conversion, and here's what I used.

The head for the wolf pelt was a GS cast I made from a very old, out-of-print Bloodbowl werewolf. If you're lucky to find one, never ever lose it or use it. I have not found a better, intact, genuine looking wolf head. In fact, it's the same sculpt used in the original Ragnar's model, but the right arm covers half the face making it a poor substitute for chopping/converting.

As for pelts/furs, you can try your luck with freehand GS work, but it sounds like you'd rather have actual bits to work with. I'd maybe look at beastmen, particularly chaos warhounds, for chopping. There's also some really nice cloaks and a sash-pelt in the chaos marauders line. However, and this goes for everyone here at the Fang/Aett, I HIGHLY recommend getting one or both of these press molds. link & link

The light fur mold still hasn't come in stock yet, but I have and use the heavy fur mold, and I think it's fantastic. I'll never bother going back to chopping bits for pelts ever again.

Oh, and while I dislike Logan Grimnar's wolf head on his pelt, I think the one on Njal is pretty nice. A bit too costly for me to consider chopping for bits though.

I know it's still just a pelt, but have you looked at the SW accessory frame direct order from GW?

My god, $25 for a press mold?! I was going to get lazy for a second, but I'm not paying that. :P

Your mold of Wilhelm Chaney looks better than the actual sculpt.

It does depend on usage. $25 IS expensive. But if you do five cloaks, that is what you'd be buying cloaks for from eBay anyway.

If you use Juggers for TWC, and you want it not to be just a mechanical creature, you'll be lowering the coast per use even more.

Undead Direwolves make fantastic Fenwolves, but ideally all that skinned muscle gets covered [or you could turn it into mechanical parts]. which is another 'cheapening' of the cost of the mould.

Maybe eBay has some press moulds floating around too....

Chaos terminator lord pelt.

Logans pelt

and Once Upon a Time we could order this little treasure http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a4/mrtnw/...ryheadsprue.jpg

for the last one *drool*.those are nice weapons.

The weapons are way to small for SW but the heads and pelts are great (still have all the weapons somewhere in my bits box)

Exactly. I easily made 10 cloaks, sashes, gap fills, and random furry bits right out of the packaging. It works amazingly well with both GS and sculpey (being silicon means it's heat-resistant for oven baking), and unlike plastic bits, I can press me some fur and position it however I want instead of bashing/salt-bending/breaking/carving plastic and metal to do the same thing. It quickly makes up the cost for a SW model builder.

Wulfebane, any chance of seeing the cloaks you have made with the press and the fur and a front shot of he ragnar model.

There's some work in progress on my Ragnar here, but I'll be updating them tomorrow with some more paint.

As for other examples, I don't have any pics of them atm. I'll see if I can round some up. Or I could just make some fresh presses and show you guys the quality.

So i used to have a Bearded Dragon and every time it would shed i would think how awesome it would be to make a Salamanders army and glue the parts of shed skin to the armor and then paint it. Giving it a the scaled impression.

Now perhaps that's a little.. strange?

ANYWAY, so now im thinking rather then making fake fur that looks real.. why not use real fur? Obviously you dont need to use Wolf, i was thinking about an old rabbit skin i got for a gift that would work.. you could cut it into small shapes to act as capes? Alas the rabbit might be a bit long haired but i used to have a squirrel skin as well and that was short haired.

Im very unsure if this is to morbid or odd though..
