Of Inquisitors & pointy things... Galefire [artwork] thread

Recommended Posts

The background didn't really make any narrative sense, especially since 2 trained acolytes wouldn't be standing in the middle of a pool of light at night. Its is just supposed to be a couple of characters, not in any particular scene. The background in my next piece will actually make narrative sense, so then I won't feel weird having it there
very nice pic, I like the way the background is used to tell her story, looks to me like they're both about to be dead though!

Yea, this picture had a pretty good narrative behind it I think.

They might both be dead, Inquisitors are pretty tough tho.

The guard's arm looks a bit awkward to me. I like the style and details though- its grimdark, very fitting for 40k, very Batman meets cyberpunk ninja. Is that a cape/cloak streaming above the DCA's head? What is that little silver ball on the DCA's sash?

The camera angle didn't exactly turn out how I wanted it, but I thought it was close enough. I probably should have shot some ref of me holding my nerfgun first, heh.

Yes, its a camocloak, or supposed to be, and the ball on his belt has a inquisitorial =][= on it.

Oooooh, okay, I wasn't looking for another =I= since he had such a prominent one on the shoulder. And that definitely is a camocloak since its hiding its details from me :jaw:

All in all its a great piece amigo, thanks for showing us! :o

A baller Inquisitor from my Dark Heresy scenario, he is in charge of those silly acolytes...

And some scary things we fought last time, but they ended up dying WAY too easily... they will be much tougher in the next go around!

The Inquisitor...I dunno. He's got a massive neck. I mean, he's a leaf-eating herbivore! The body is nice though, although there's very little that distinguishes him as an Imperial Inquisitor, rather than a generic fantasy character.

The second picture, on the other hand, is amazing. It's got enough things to make me say 'yeah, that's 40k alright', and yet also say 'OH CRAP!'. Seriously, that's scary good work. Would love to see you make a DH about a Guard squad trying to escape from a Chaos-run manufactorum around Halloween. Shivers just saying that!

To sum it up: you're a great artist, but you could use some stuff that makes your pictures 40k-related. Apart from that creepy 2nd pic...

I actually just updated the image a bit, so the neck isn't quite as... pronounced. I guess my gorget was throwing me off or something.

The character is dual purpose  but he could probably use a few more inquisitorial rosettes.

Fantastic pieces, very inspirational.

For me especially, as I'm currently stuck on an Inquisitor story I'm writing.

You'll get it, I'd look at Eisenhorn if you haven't read it already... epic Inquisitor book.

Also made an update on the Inquisitor pic, now with large face.

Should have more soon <_<

So Aaron Dembski-Bowden told me "I like a lot of things. I absolutely love this." about the top Draigo piece... pretty super awesome.

That Draigo piece is probably the best piece of 40k artwork ever!!!! the scale is immense and beautiful!

Till my next piece where Draigo is torching the Garden of Nurgle! mwahahaha

thanks :)

only just seen this and only three words sum up my feelings right now... SO FREAKIN' AWESOME!! :) I await this here 'burning nurglies potted plants' :) much as I despise the fluff itself, it does rather lend itself to some epic artwork :)
PM sent.

I have responded to you good sir.

Also, got some comps done on the burning of the nurglites in his forest/garden; probably won't get started till I return from Gencon though. Looks to be suitably epic, but possibly not as epic as Bloodthirster standing on top of lava-falls with braying bloodletters to his sides. That is actually kind of hard to top.
