Contemptor Dreadnought by FW!

It's a lot taller than a standard dread. Would make getting it into cover more difficult. But damn does it look cool. I'll probably pick one up and use it as a venerable dread.

Edit: Just checked out the experimental rules. I'm not sure it's worth the price but BS5, S7, AV13 front and AV11 rear with invuln saves is pretty sweet. I'd only try using those rules in an apoc game though when I don't care so much about points.

I'd wait till more arms come out for it before dropping the money on it.

Actually the 2004 Horus Heresy books "Visions of War", "Visions of Darkness", "Visions of Treachery" and "Visions of Death" are full of these images. For all legions (loyalyst or not). The same artwork that also went into the old Sabertooth card game...

I think you can still find it as "Collected Visions" here: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/...odId=prod842467

If you can spare the money I think it's worth it...

Cool, thanks.

I might fork out for that now.

I really do love this model, I just wish they had more arms for it presently!

As to the paint scheme, I don't think it really matters, whatever people think looks cool. Though I think it would be considered more of a chapter relic/resource than a deathwing specific resource.

Neither i like it that much.It looks like a giant terminator suit rather than a walking coffin that dreads are supposed to be.

Too humane look for me...It is what a dreadknight outta to look like though. If i had GKs i would convert one of those with dreadknight weapons.

Well, I tried to like it, I looked and looked and looked hoping I would like it, I looked at other sources, I really did.

Nope, the thing still looks stupid. ;) Good feet and legs and on top is a fat wheelie bin that VAGABOND described. It is no where near enough 'grimdark' for my collection of models.

There is a reason why GW designed the newer walking brick type, it looks cooler, waaaayyy cooler.

On the bright side I will save lots of dosh.

Disclaimer: My opinion only, to those who like it I support your opinion but don't share it.

Have to disagree with you Stobz about the cooler part. This FW dread looks much cooler and I think most people in all the threads I've seen would agree.

Fair enough, I personally was stoked when GW first made the metal versions of the current mkV sarcophagus(sp?) version of the standard Dread (which I prefer to the plastic ones), I was blown away when FW started producing venerable mkIV versions too, I have a couple of those resin beauties.

I didn't buy any of the old style ones (I forget the names) as they were IMHO (nostalgia aside, I do love seeing retro armies that are done well) very silly and quite orky looking.

I would hazard to say that most people back then also thought that the introduction to the mkVI and Vs was a great step forward by the design teams at GW and FW.

It is good that things change but I for one will keep away from the newest/oldest look.

I do think they finally got the rules right for a dread though, I wish they applied to standard Dreads, Armour 13/12/11 is appropriate for an adamantium etc. vehicle. IMHO.

BTW I really don't like the ape arms on the ironclad too. Saves me even more dosh

Cool as Droma mate, lucky this isn't a popularity contest ^_^

Edit:clarity/I hope.

Nothing against the old MkV's VI Stobz they are great looking models. I think part of the reason a lot of people like this heresy dread is because it resembles so many other mecha that it feels familiar while still keeping the space marine theme.

I do like the new rules though, although I think it's slightly overcosted because you still have to buy upgrades for the dang thing.

Yup, total agreement there, damned expensive wheeliebin ;) and the only available arms are one of the upgrades :P
