Contemptor Pattern Dreadnought

Good old "Chuck" is back - now Fury and Eddie? (Although no doubt the Furioso replaces the Furibundus!). ANd guess what everyone - the model above resembles almost precisley the Epic scale plastic dread from the Stompers boxed set from the late 1980s so I for one love it as I have a metric tonne of these old Dreadies...

When someone said earlier that they think it's ugly - I can fully understand why. When I first saw it I was unconvinced although it has now grown on my quite substantially. I will personally be fielding 2 with a Dark Angels Deathwing army rather than BA but can see it as a good furioso or dc dread

The Close combat weapon comes with a Heavy Flamers as well. The picture of it shows it with the fuel canister mounted on the arm. However there isn't a good picture of the nozzle as the fingers are in the way on all other photos. I'm glad ForgeWorld has given us both options. I like the look of it, and may get one or two.

I'm struggling on how to fit this in to a Blood Angels list using the actual rules for it though. It is an Elites choice which competes with our Furioso's. It has the same armour. The extra strength the Contemptor dread has is irrelevant with Dread Close Combat weapons, as the Furioso and this will both strike at the same strength (unless it loses both arms). If we could give it Blood Talons though, that would make it great. I know it has Fleet and an Invulnerable save, but you are paying a lot points wise for that.

it actually has better rear armour too, making it immune to bolter fire from behind (unlike our furioso) for the points it is kinda a bit much to ask... but it could be worse, its a fair bit more survivable both in and out of CC than the furioso, and is likely to get there quicker due to fleet. it's near enough identicle to the furioso in CC as one point lower WS makes little difference in most cases.
