my worst close combat fail....

O.o

Would it not have made sense to close the thread that didn't have any replies in it??

Anyway, this reply from the previous thread, before it was deleted:

I haven't had any fails with my Space Wolves yet as they're still in production. ^_^

Close combat has been pretty kind to me, thanks to my Blood Angels Assault Squads. I do remember playing Warriors of Chaos one time, though, when my three-wound Chaos Lord on a Juggernaught failed to cause any wounds, took four armour saves in reply and managed to get himself killed despite having a 2+ save.

My first Space Marine game I rapid-fired seven bolters, double-tapped six stombolters, fired a multimelta, flamer, frag missile and a bolt pistol at some Orks and caused two wounds.

First game with my Blood Angels Honour Guard (with Feel No Pain), I lost three models out of four to Gets Hot! from their plasma guns and then lost the fourth the next turn, causing one wound on my opponent in the process.

I'm hoping that I've had my share of evil dice rolls!

Lots of Wolf Guard Fail

Last game my Termies charged a group of REGULAR assault marines and lost combat. Killing one and loosing 2 in return the other guy was cheating but still. (my group has banned this guy from our club for rolling and then rerolling with no rerolls allowed)

Not in cc but, 5 termies died to 10 fleshborers, then again they had just killed swarm lord and 1 tyrant guard.

5 CC Termies died in CC with a scout squad and a furioso with out killing anyone.

There have been games where all they killed was 2 models though.

Logan died horribly to Mepheston after Saguinor nerf.

10 grey hunters losing combat to 5 fire dragons.

Losing combat to swooping hawks with assault termies.

Lone wolf getting punked against a normal dreadnought with no cc arms. stupid ones!! follwed by 2 and 3 for FNP!!

Lots of bad luck with my wolves.

when my WL did not kill ANYTHING. and i mean ANYTHING, and then got punked out by a power fist.

that's not a fail, just poor generalship. seeing a greater deamon of khorne beaten to death by tau fire warriors, that's a fail!

how is that poor generalship?

well it mostly has to do with how you place your models. if you keep the lord away from the powerfist so he can't be targetted by it you could have kept the lord alive ;)

the comment sounded harsher though then it was ment, don't worry ;)

the crushing by the power fist was more of a fail to have SoB on him than anything.

On Thursday night in my second game for the seedings of my club Championship I needed my lone wolf who was on two wounds to either Die or to Kill 3 guardsmen to get me a draw.

I had failed to get the win because a unit was pinned and 8 guardsmen that had gone to ground made 23 3 up saves but my trusty bare bones lone wolf wouldn't let me down against three guardsmen.

Of course he did. Rolled 1 for Mark of the wulfen, missed with all three attacks, drawn combat, end of game, :cuss.

my second or third game played against a drop pod and deep strick jumppack Blood Angels army.

After poor placement on my part of my Long Fangs I raced a rhino over with a pack of Gray hunters with a WG leading them. They fired on the squad that had killed all but two of the Long Fangs. And thanks to my awesome rolls....... did nil. His next turn a deep strike dropped in behind the squad and well.... due to my skills with the dice I managed to fail all armor saves and watched the entire squad (including the WG) die.

I do believe that has been my worst showing to date. At least the game ended in a draw. Him holding one objective and me holding one on the other side of the table. Of course he was afraid of challenging the third objective because I had my Wold Lord, Bjorn, Lone Wolf, and one Wolf Guard on top of it..... If only they could have counted as holding the objective....

i guess that's where we have to agree to disagree. SotB is handy, sure, but how did you keep your wolf lord alive when you still had our 3rd edition codex? yup, you made sure no fist/other instant death weapon could single him out

there isnt always going to be the chance to keep him from getting singled out by a fist. there are plenty of players out there that put a fist on everything that they can. so yeah. you cant always do that, so yeah has nothing to do with generalship.

worst close combat fail, eh? For that I have to go back to 3rd edition. I charged a unit of Guard with a pack of Grey hunters. Not only did I lose close combat, but the Grey hunters decided it was a good idea to run. On my opponents turn he shot them to itty bitty bits.
unit of 5 WG in TDA with twin wolfclaws, AND a TDA WP assault a unit of eldar guardians. that's 23 attacks with reroll to hit, 20 of which can reroll to wound. I got to roll to wound with 6 dice. totalled at 50 1's and 2's... made 2 wounds, and failed a grand total of 7 armoursaves (yeah, that's right, everything died... I then scooped, left the shop, and headed down to the pub for some tequila.)

how in the name of russ can you lose a combat against guardians?

that sucks....ouch.

Bwhaha that reminds me of when i was new to the game i made a pack of i think it was 9 or 10 WG in full TDA and as much bling as i could get. Ended up being a 900 point unit.

Charged some guardians and floored them, then looked to the guy next to me and said "Man did you see me get thous guys!" or something like that.. while i wont the fight, id say that was the worst CC fail ever.

Logan locked in deadly combat vs. a Tau Stealth Suit squad with two wounds left. On the charge he hits twice. and in return gets hit four times, I rolled all ones for my saves...

My opponent laughed and said "Grimnar, you're MY bitch now"!!
