Valerian
Would this be a good thing to get even though i've started an army?http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat550004a&prodId=prod1570027 I wouldnt bother. Those models are barely passable as Ultramarines. The only model really worthwhile is the Ork Warboss with Power Klaw, but if you don't collect Orks, it isn't worth it, when you can buy a couple Wolf Packs instead. Xeenos
I think that is a fairly good price now that i look at it.. i mean 5 TDA are what, $50? A dred is $35 or so? As far as price id say its good, if you want to do orcs too, its even better! Otherwise you can just sell off the parts you wont use or trade them. Kinda depends what you looking for though.. i mean what do you want from that box that you cant get else were? Id much rather have the Wolf Guard TDA box for the wolf bits, or the Space Wolves Pack box, again for wolf bits. Toasterfree
i say no. the space marine models are horrible. the only reason to get these is to get the ML off of it, and get the unit off of ebay. all of the SM models in it are horrible Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/233398-good-purchase/#findComment-2809725 Share on other sites
Union.Jack
Even the missile launcher is rubbish. It's a good starter pack for someone to learn how to play but I wouldn't use them for Wolves. Ok.i'll get the SW battleforce or the Chaos fantasy battalion or regiment then. and i dont know why that link didnt work.but no sense in trying to fix since i shouldn't get this. Taeken
Ya I got the blackreach set too. Was fooled into thinkin they would work nicely for SW. Na The orks are fine and that worked out as I have an Ork army too. And with the forthcomming 6th edition coming eventually the set isnt even worth the mini rule book for much longer either. I sure hope they get smart and offer the a 6 ed mini rule book eventually on its own. RipherChost
I have been happy with the AoBR set, I gave my son the Orks so that did sweeten the deal. There are tons of posts on the B&C that show that as cookie cutter as the marine minis are they can still be converted and hidden among the rest of your army. I have seen several impressive dread and captain conversions and some good work making the terminators look presentable, even a GK conversion tutorial somewhere. I will certainly not defend the bland lamness of the troop marines however if you have the bits and skills to convert then it is still a good deal, especially if you eBay the left overs. I love to convert and kit bash so that may be why it didn't bother me. Certainly not ideal for some one brand new to the hobby, be prepared for lots of arrow scrapping or covering and a few guys in your army standing there like statues, those are the first casualties anyways! :cuss Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/233398-good-purchase/#findComment-2812870 Share on other sites

Spazmonkey
I have to disagree as well I think the AOBR set id fine to use to start your army. I had never done any painting or converting before i did any of these. http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv186/jay_Spazmonkey/018.jpg http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv186/jay_Spazmonkey/P1040614.jpg http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv186/jay_Spazmonkey/P1040084.jpg http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv186/jay_Spazmonkey/014.jpg http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv186/jay_Spazmonkey/P1040616.jpg http://i682.photobucket.com/albums/vv186/jay_Spazmonkey/8728_1040219223899_1778123533_81723.jpg These marines are unconverted and the first models i ever painted.
