Kasres
I've wanted to get out of the Power Armour for a while, at least for a few games a year, and decided that I want my second army to be useful for more than just 40k, so I decided on the 3 use Daemons of Chaos (or Chaos Daemons, useful for Fantasy, 40k and for the Summoned Daemons for when my Space Wolves go Renegade) Anyways, I just had a clarification question about the little blighters known as Nurglings, as I was given some for free so I might as well use 'em, however I have heard people on both sides for my question so I turn to BaC for my answer ^_^ Do Nurglings give a cover save to the people behind them, or am I screwed when it comes to that? Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for any and all help you can/will give! :cuss Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/233453-new-to-daemons/ Share on other sites
Valkyrion
p76 of the rule book, swarms (emphasis mine) '...never offer any cover save to monstrous creatures or vehicles.' So, yep to your plaguebearers, no to your daemon prince. Also, if you are playing a stickler of an opponent, he would be well within his rights to refuse to play you because of your bases if you are wanting to use Daemons as 40k and Fantasy. Really you'd need to magnetise. It wouldn't bother me if you turned up to play 40k with square bases, but playing fantasy with round bases would be impossible. Kasres
Thanks for the reply mate, and I currently have the daemons on round bases, and will be making proper sized movement trays similar to the LotR trays, but with 10 holes in place of 8, just so that I can easily play both with only using a round base on the model B) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/233453-new-to-daemons/#findComment-2811559 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
No need to magnetize at all- a friend of mine put all his on the square bases and uses them just fine. GWs rule is 'the base it is provided with' not 'the base you think it should have'. lithior
Yes and they are provided with round bases for use in 40k so square bases arn't legal. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/233453-new-to-daemons/#findComment-2862330 Share on other sites
Bloodmange
Yes and they are provided with round bases for use in 40k so square bases arn't legal. That is not true at all; Attalian Rough Rider's have square Cavalry Bases. I see no problem with using square bases for daemons in 40k since they came in the box with said daemons. It would be a differnt story if that weren't the case. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/233453-new-to-daemons/#findComment-2862637 Share on other sites
--eFTy-->
Actually it's even better the other way around. Model them on round bases, and even if you wanna play Fantasy, it's still ok as the diameter is the same as the side of the square base, so they can be placed on regular movement trays and there's no issue. Even better, you can put a magnet in each base and a thin foil of metal in (or as) the movement tray to keep models from falling out. This is also great help for carrying the army, instead of each individual figure having it's own cozy spot.
