Dez
I started this army in September of 2009, and I can't believe I haven't finished yet. I meant to get this army done in a few months, nevermind 2 years. The good news is, I'm not too far off base! Here is a shot of where I am at now: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v57/Dez667/Thousand%20Sons/IMG_1900.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v57/Dez667/Thousand%20Sons/IMG_1910.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v57/Dez667/Thousand%20Sons/IMG_1908.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v57/Dez667/Thousand%20Sons/IMG_1906.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v57/Dez667/Thousand%20Sons/IMG_1904.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v57/Dez667/Thousand%20Sons/IMG_1902.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v57/Dez667/Thousand%20Sons/IMG_1884.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v57/Dez667/Thousand%20Sons/IMG_1880.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/233607-pre-heresy-thousand-sons/ Share on other sites
Task Force Gauntlet
Normal heads look so odd on Thousand Sons, nothing wrong with them just I've really only seen Maxmini heads on them. Excellent army though, nice to see a Pre-Heresy player. Dez
Thanks, I really like the Maxmini heads. I'm not a big fan of the 'Bunny Ears', and I have some ideas for changing the army up a bit going into the future to make them less....'Marine-y'. Iron_Adam
Have you thought of maybe making one or two marines going through the flesh change, if you don't do it I might. It would make a good objective or something in a game Also, I love the colors, all looks fantastic! Dez
Thanks Iron Adam! Indeed I have, and have some stuff in the works. I've made a silly pact with myself to only show painted models, I'll have more soon! Dez
I'd gotten 10 more done for July and forgot to post them. I took a bit more time, painted a few more details and highlights. I have more to do, including a Contemptor and a couple more Sorcerers. Then I get to start on the Rhinos and other transports. Something else I plan on doing is redoing all the special and heavy weapons dudes into fully converted models. By this, I mean they will have lightning and Kine Shields and all sorts of of other special effects going on. But that's for the near future ;) Something else I did was repaint the Aquilla black, to represent the Cordivae. I think this will help because some of the armor is iffy as far as the timeline goes. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v57/Dez667/Thousand%20Sons/IMG_1966.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v57/Dez667/Thousand%20Sons/IMG_1964.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/233607-pre-heresy-thousand-sons/#findComment-2849222 Share on other sites
Commander S. Caesare
I'm surprised that your secondary color (the yellow) isn't the beige gold I see on most TSons. Kinda reminds me of the Khorne Berserkers, though. Love the work. Like to see some vehicles. Nistro
i like these they are nice models my only problem is i think u need more TS stuff on them cause atm i hate to say (i really hate giving neg comments or critisism) they look like red marines with different helms on im really sry. but as they stand i think it is a really nice well put together army so *big thumbs up* Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/233607-pre-heresy-thousand-sons/#findComment-2849403 Share on other sites
Skirax
I hope your coming to TF, so my Wolves can pummel you into the ground ;) It would be an honour to play against such a well painted and well executed army :) :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/233607-pre-heresy-thousand-sons/#findComment-2849429 Share on other sites
Dez
@Commander Thanks, I've only painted them up to tabletop maybe a bit over so far. The reason for the yellow is it's just a base coat, I havent' found a bronze or gold paint that I'm satisfied with. I've also been practicing NMM on the side, we'll see where that goes ;) @Nistro The only way one can become better is to receive constructive criticism ;) There are details on them, but they are fairly subtle. I've GS'd some scarabs onto them, and I'll be painting some hieroglyphics and stuff on them soon as I did with my earlier batch. I really appreciate your criticism ^_^ @Skirax That would be great, thank you ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/233607-pre-heresy-thousand-sons/#findComment-2849588 Share on other sites
Mac the knife
they look great i initially clicked over and saw them and I was like "Whoa, an army of Iron Man marines." well executed so far though. I'm not sure what their different areas are called (brotherhoods?) but painting the shoulderpads with their allegiance would help them be more easily recognizable ie Corvidae (spelling?) have a raven as their symbol. Battle Captin Torodin
They look really cool, i would suggest a coat of satin varnish to get rid of them slightly gloss finish on the red, but apart from that they are very nicely done.
