Pre-Heresy Thousand Sons

Recommended Posts

I started this army in September of 2009, and I can't believe I haven't finished yet. I meant to get this army done in a few months, nevermind 2 years. The good news is, I'm not too far off base! Here is a shot of where I am at now:

Thanks, I really like the Maxmini heads. I'm not a big fan of the 'Bunny Ears', and I have some ideas for changing the army up a bit going into the future to make them less....'Marine-y'.

Have you thought of maybe making one or two marines going through the flesh change, if you don't do it I might.

It would make a good objective or something in a game

Also, I love the colors, all looks fantastic!

  • 1 month later...

I'd gotten 10 more done for July and forgot to post them. I took a bit more time, painted a few more details and highlights. I have more to do, including a Contemptor and a couple more Sorcerers. Then I get to start on the Rhinos and other transports. Something else I plan on doing is redoing all the special and heavy weapons dudes into fully converted models. By this, I mean they will have lightning and Kine Shields and all sorts of of other special effects going on. But that's for the near future ;)

Something else I did was repaint the Aquilla black, to represent the Cordivae. I think this will help because some of the armor is iffy as far as the timeline goes.

@Commander Thanks, I've only painted them up to tabletop maybe a bit over so far. The reason for the yellow is it's just a base coat, I havent' found a bronze or gold paint that I'm satisfied with. I've also been practicing NMM on the side, we'll see where that goes ;)

@Nistro The only way one can become better is to receive constructive criticism ;) There are details on them, but they are fairly subtle. I've GS'd some scarabs onto them, and I'll be painting some hieroglyphics and stuff on them soon as I did with my earlier batch. I really appreciate your criticism ^_^

@Skirax That would be great, thank you ;)

they look great i initially clicked over and saw them and I was like "Whoa, an army of Iron Man marines." well executed so far though. I'm not sure what their different areas are called (brotherhoods?) but painting the shoulderpads with their allegiance would help them be more easily recognizable ie Corvidae (spelling?) have a raven as their symbol.
