GK Army Pictures

Hey all. I've been painting up an army for a tournament. I'm almost done, but I needed a short break, so I figured I'd post some photos here to see what you all thought. I'm still working on the Dreadknight (base is done though), and I got the Vindicare pre-painted and don't think I'll have time to re-paint it before the tourney tomorrow. Also, I plan to flock the bases and add some little foam grass to everything.

Please, I'd love to hear any comments you have. I'm very open to constructive criticism, since I want my army to look as good as I can possibly make it. The pictures were taken in my basement, which doesn't have the best lighting ever, so I apologize if it's hard to see all the details.

If you're interested, here is the army list.

Hah, that's awesome man. Gotta love the Dreadknight doing some Rhino surfing... Great battle damage on it.

I do like your original scheme, too. Copper, black and red work really well together.

Where did the hammers come from on your =I= and Terminator?

Since I found the pieces for him, I can answer that one.

The Inquisitor (silver) hammer is part of a Necron destroyer gun, with a little crux terminatus looking bit added to the end.

The Terminator Hammer is the loose battery pack from the crashed aquilla lander that came with the Battle for Maccrage 4E set

both are obviously mounted on the hafts of halberds, as they are converted from the old metal termis.

Hah, good stuff. The best bits are converted bits!

Great signature, by the way. All three parts of it :D

On closer inspection of the pictures, I see a sneaky cloaked figure- he managed to stay hidden in every picture except the group shot and the first Dreadknight picture. Cloaked and holding a rifle, I can only assume he's a Vindicare. *takes cover, just in case...*

Any chance we can get a close up or two of him?

Hahaha... he is very sneaky! :D The reason I didn't give a close-up is because I didn't paint him. He's useable, but not spectacular, and I'm definitely re-painting him from scratch at some point. However, given that the tourney is tomorrow and I'm still not done with that thrice-cursed Dreadknight, the Vindicare will be going to the tourney as-is. I'll try to snap a quick photo of him next time my camera's out, and I'll certainly post a pic once I re-paint him.

As for the hammers, I'm really quite pleased with the way they turned out. I actually had some hammers on order from Maxi-Mini... well, actually, I still have them on order. It's been a month now. Anyway, time ran out, so TJ rattled through my bits box for me and found those two excellent Thunder Hammer heads. I especially love how comically large the one is on that Grey Knight. :P

sigh... back to painting.

Haha, don't worry about the Vindicare picture, I won't force you to put up pictures of unfinished work :D

It really is comically large. And still awesome

Good luck with the painting, I hope you're at least minimally satisfied with how it looks on the table tomorrow :P

More pictures! The tournament was on Friday, and I managed to get the army fully painted and based by 3:30am the night before! :D There are some things I want to go back and touch-up, and I'd like to make the bases fancier, but for a rush-job I'm really quite pleased.

Thanks guys. Glad to hear all the work I put into the Dreadknight and his base paid off.

So I currently have 2 unassembled boxes of Grey Knights lying around, and I've decided that I want another unit of Interceptors. I also want to do some more work converting them. I want them to look suitably cool, and hopefully maybe convey a sense of movement. My problem is that I'm not sure what movements they would be making. It's just like jump packs, where you can model them flying around. They're sort of just walking around in one place one second, and in a different place the next.

So, bottom line is I need suggestions on how to convert a squad of interceptors. Any ideas?

I'm not sure that a conversion is what's needed here so much as a special paint job- one that makes them look suitably ghostly, as though they're fading into the warp or emerging from it. Something along the lines of a black or warp-purple (or, heck, Grey Knights' warp-blue!) half to the model, fading into your coppery armor sheen.
