masterchief4312
So I was playing 2300 Points against tyranids today. Games workshop was closing in an hour so I figured, hell I'll just check out a bunch of things that I would never do. So I put Logan grimnar in with 5 long fangs (heavy bolters and a plasma cannon). I was surprised how well it worked. In the first turn I wiped out half of his squad of 20 gargoyles. When they tried to get to the long fangs, I just kept moving and shooting and ended up wiping out the squad in to turns. Unfortunately the game ended at that point. I have to say on the whole, I was impressed with how well it worked, but it just wasn't worth the points. In a regular game I would just drop grimnar with wolf guard. Anyone have any thoughts on anything in the post? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/233662-report-on-logan-grimnar-with-long-fangs/ Share on other sites
WG Vrox
Now this is a bit of a god squad, but I won a small 12 table tournament with my long fangs 2 las 3 ML a WG with CML and my rune priest with LL. With split fire and Logan, the amount of sheer fire power they could put out it was pretty devastating, I remember focusing one salvo on an exposed chaos marine unit and left them with only 2 out of the original 10 men. Keep in mind that you don't have to pigeon hole yourself into running Logan with the fangs in every game, but having the option when you see a lot of armor being set down is pretty nice. The other nice option with Logan being in the long fang squad is he can take the hits from opponent's range units. I keep doing that until he is down to 1 wound, then pass it on to the fangs. So don't be shy in using his 2+4+ saves. Rune_Priest_Rhapsody
I have been using him with 5 Plas Can LF's in my current Wolf Wing build, and it is a great unit that can deal a lot of punishment. In drop pod, it's 500pnts. I am modeling up a Heavy Bolter squad for even cheaper good times!! Dahli Llama
I played Loganwing at an 1850pt RTT a few weeks ago, and stuck him in with some Lascannon Long Fangs. Being able to boost the Lascannons to S10 really helped against the land raiders I was seeing. His squad alone took out two Land Raiders in a single game. rodgambit
I ran Logan in a 2k list the other day that had a few options for him. 1- He joins the Arjac terminator unit in a drop pod. 2- He joins the ML LF's for s9 shots against a heavily armored opponet. 3- He joins the PC LF's for relentless mobility My buddy was using abadon who for the same points could wipe Logan in close combat, however, for 3 turns abadon wasn't even fighting where Logan was blowing up land raiders and defilers with his s9 shots. He also enabled me to have 4 scoring units in my list. His versatility is key. I have had instances when I have ran my hybrid Loganwing where he has influenced just about every move and unit on the board for me in some way. Ranged or close combat, he was part of making the army work better and more effective. Tsavong Lah
I've been running Logan in almost every list for the past several months precisely because of that versatility he offers. I've become very fond of the 5-man Plasma Cannon Long Fang pack with Logan... five plasma templates under relentless is just evil. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/233662-report-on-logan-grimnar-with-long-fangs/#findComment-2814770 Share on other sites
Toasterfree
i want to clarify, tank hunters does not make you s9. it makes you +1 effective against tanks, which is big. but its on the AP roll. you can think s9, but they are not, they are still s8. i say this, and i dont think there is anything like this but for example purposes, if there was anything that ignored anything less than s9 you missile launchers would be useless.
