A Local GW Staffer loudly proclaimed in front of me that painting these

were "impossible" and he'd given up after trying to paint 1 model...

Sounded like a challenge to me...

Comments Welcome...

The look quite tasty, brother. I do think the colour blending needs to be refined and the paint chipping needs to be toned down in terms of brightness of the lighter colour used though (or brighten up the darker colour a wee bit). The paint chips stand out ALOT and threaten to draw focus away from the rest of the models. Besides that I actually really like them. :P
While I'm not a fan of the 'style' of chipping/damage, as I think it really takes in most of the viewer's attention and leaves the rest of the model in the background, I can certainly appreciate the skill with which it's been executed. Nice colour work in general and overall pretty fantastic models, I'd be very proud. Will they be getting a spot in your GW's cabinets? :P
only think for me is, i'm not a fan of the color choice for your lens and plasma/power-weapons... just a bit too sky blue for me. other than that i'm all about your battle damaged storm lords from the Real grim dark of the far far future.

Magicman - thanks...

Olisredan - I'm happy with the red and yellow, as looks nicer in real life, the white battle damage was a bit of an experiment, I usually prefer a brown for the battle damage on white, but went with shadow grey for contrast with the red and yellow... agree it's come off a little harsh, but I'm not going to redo them now...

Thunderhawk3015 - Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed showing them off to him yesterday...

Dorns_Fist - thanks...

Draakur - thanks, they will probably find their way in there eventually, I usually only get my competition entries displayed, so I may hold them for the next "best unit" competition.

Brother_Fatiswon - well I did actually repaint the eyes 3 times before getting something I was happy with, they're hawk turquoise rather than sky blue... They really needed to stand out because the helmets were getting lost in the scheme... thanks...

Grimdarkness - Thanks...

Siege40k - Thanks... The symbols were handpainted. Written guide would be:

Iyanden Darksun (or Mecharite Red if doing on the left shoulder):

- Paint Lines from a central point at 0' 120' and 240'

- Paint a triangle extending out to 1 side on the end of each line

- Paint a box extending out the other side of the line toward the centre

- This should give the 3 lightning bolts

Bleached Bone:

- Just above where the lines converged (the centre) paint a wide oval to make the forehead of the skull

- Paint a figure of 8 on its side below this to create the eyes

- Paint a line underneath this to create the upper jaw

- Paint a thin line up from this to besect the nose into an upside down V

- This should give the basic shape of the skull

Snakebite Leather:

- Paint into the eye sockets and nasal cavity

- Paint a small flattened V above the eyes to furrow the brow slightly

- Paint 2 thin lines to the sides of the forehead to create the temples

- Create the teeth with 3 small vertical lines

- Outline the skull where it meets the yellow bolts and extend these into the bolts to shade them

(if doing red bolts I would suggest using dark flesh for this bit)

Scorched Brown:

- Deepen the eye sockets and nasal cavity

Skull White:

- Highlight the skull focussing on the top of the head, brows, cheek bones and teeth

Iyanden Darksun (or Blood Red if red bolts):

- Touch up the bolts until happy

Kommando Khaki:

- Highlight the lightning bolts
