Machinepriest
Now I know that some people frown upon threads like this, but I could really use some help here. I'm about to make a Sergeant for a Tactical Squad but I just can't decide on how to model or equip him. For those of you who haven't seen my Carcharodon blog, I'm only using older armour marks from Forgeworld for my basic troops, but feel free to post Sergeants in any kind of armour  I will be using Tyberos Chapter Tactics, exchanging Combat Tactics for Furious Charge, so I will probably give him some sort of close combat weapon but I'm very open to ideas as I'm totally clueless when it comes to tactics. (I'm a painter, not a gamer... Yet) I'm extra interested in seeing Sergeants with Bolters or Combi-Bolters and/or Power Fists as this seems like a solid combination. I'm posting this in the Hall of Honor as I hope it will turn into sort of a showcase thread, but feel free to move it to a appropriate forum if it doesn't belong here. Olgerth Istaarn
I always magnetize my sarges. A humble bolterman will remain from one edition to another, a sarge on the other hand may change in his loadout and efficiency. Yes, it takes more work, but it's worth it. As for the armor, I give them the "Emperor's Champion" torso, because it has a bitchin' collar and a presculped loincloth. My sarges are currently being painted, so I'm hoping to post them soon. Hyaenidae
Frankly, I'm quite happy with just a chainsword/bolt pistol set-up myself for the tactical Sergeants... Although, my Veteran Sergeants get a little extra 'punch'...(Get it? Punch? it's a power fist and...sigh, never mind...) Love your Sharks, by the way! Sorry, but I'm always put painting and modeling over tactics, so I'm no help there, lol. Good luck! Shotbreak
This is Hall of Honour, but the only thing "finished" about this guy is that he's put together :P Hope this gives some ideas though ;) http://i1083.photobucket.com/albums/j389/Shotbreak/P7100002.jpg Loving Grey Knights bitz!! :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/233844-tactical-sergeants/#findComment-2815248 Share on other sites
Kizzdougs
For me it comes down to a combination of what i think looks cool and what is tactically sound. Tactical sergeants don't usually get any/much war gear. My Aspiring champions on the other hand nearly always have power fists (they look badass and are incredibly useful). I've linked the images because they are WIP. For example my WIP Stern guard sergeant only has his standard boltgun because i thought it looked good. Deathwatch Where as this WIP assault sergeant is armed with a power fist because i believe they are the best weapon for an assault squad. Pre-heresy EC For your sharkies i think chain weapons would look great. All those sharp teeth are just so right for the Carcharodons. Maybe some eviscerator style blades to represent powerfists... One-eye
I like to see my sergents as leaders rather than overstuffed fighters, that's why I think the pose is more important than the gear. A pointing hand, as the deathwatch sarge of Kizzdougs above, is as good as a power weapon. ... well, in fact I prefer when the sergent has both ^^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/233844-tactical-sergeants/#findComment-2816631 Share on other sites
Lemainus
Bolt Pistol + Power fist for one of my favorites. A good stride and a "I'mma kick your ass" works nicely for most sergeants IMHO. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a126/JohnnyK3886/Oh%20Dear/HalfChimera2.jpg Of course you could go nuts like I did with my Sternguard Sarge and get some special bits to really make him stand out. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a126/JohnnyK3886/Sternguard%20w%20Flash/SergeantGabranth.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/233844-tactical-sergeants/#findComment-2817222 Share on other sites
Khine
I don't have any picture of this .. but replace boltpistol for powerfist .. then because the meltagun counts as an assault weapon replace boltgun with a 'pistol' meltagun aka infernus pistol.... could be a interesting look if done right.
