Latest Blood Angel

Here are some of my latest Blood Angels. Been dealing with flooding so I haven't been able to do much of anything but I got these guys almost finished. These guys are done over a black undercoat. I bought an airbrush and I'm liking how it works so far. Enjoy.

Latest update on the beakies and the tactical squad. I brought the red up a bit more and worked a bit on the bases as well. I still have some work to do on the packs and the weapons. I am thinking about doing the squad markings on the knees. I have tried to add static grass to the bases but it keeps giving me fits. There must be an easy way to get it to look good, I'm just not doing it correctly yet. I like the bright red I was able to get over a black base coat. I'll have to try red and grey and white (like I said I was going to so long ago) Anyhow I hope you like them, C&C welcome.http://img827.imageshack.us/img827/7682/dsc02899b.jpg

Here is the finished five man assault squad. I added more highlights to the models. I also did some more freehand work on the squad markings and on some of the blood drops. I also thought the sarge's badge on his shoulder would look better in a different color so I redid that bit in yellow and touched up the blood angels symbol. I was toying around with the battle damage idea but quickly thought better of it. I am no master of the sponge technique and I almost ruined a model trying it. I will have to give it a go on more "expendable" models until I can figure out what I am doing wrong.

Here is the beginnings of the tactical squad. I plan on making it a full 10 man squad. The beakie doesn't really fit this squad so he will be part of another tactical squad with older looking armor. These models were primed black then they have been given several thin coats with red gore, then blood red, and finally a little bit of vomit brown and blood red mixed. No washes have been applied, that will come next. I am debating on giving another highlight coat to see how it will turn out in the end.

Here they are so tell me what you think.

I have done some more on the tacticals. Right now I am only using the washes gryphonne sepia and devlan mud. Here they are so far.

On the above two troops I didn't use the wash on the entire model. I only used it in the dark spots on the model. It was a bit more time consuming but I am experimenting here so I figured what the hell.

This beakie was washed entirely with the sepia wash. He came out a bit shiny but that will disappear once I get going on these guys. I think I like just using the wash in the dark spots but I'll reserve judgment until I am finished.

As a little bonus I thought I would show a side by side comparison of brush vs. airbrush.

The guy on the right was done I think a year ago and the beakie was finished last week.

The older guys were painted over either grey or white primer. I know for certain I wasn't going over black. I thought I'd put it up to show the difference of one way vs the other.

Latest update on my tactical squad. Again, the beakie had the wash applied all oer him while the other two just had it put in the dark spots of the model. I can tell because I did it but I was wondering if you guys are noticing a difference. I did a little bit of work on the torso but most of it will be covered with the boltgun so you wont really see to much of it. I added some more highlights to the guys going up to vomit brown in some spots. The whole look I'm going for here is subtle so let me know if you think it is coming across that way. Enjoy.
