Complete revamp going on at the moment.

Questions..

Do we know of a confirmed founding for around the time of late M32 to middle M33?

When did the death of Sanguinius\' effect on the Blood Angels become knowledge to the High Lords of Terra?

Would a set of chapters partition the High Lords, to hunt down a particular archenemy? Ie. Drop Site Massacre Chapters partition a force to hunt the reinforcement legions?

If it was outside of their combined regions of authority and didn\'t want to go on rogue hunt like the DAs.

Or Would the High Lords ask the three chapters to look after the training of the new chapter, for the purpose of hunting particular enemies they knew they had a personal grudge against?

How feasible is it under these conditions that a council leads the chapter until they deem one of the new recruits a worthy chapter master?

Do we know anything about the system/planets that the Forgeworld Tigrus is in/close too? or if it had any moons?

If the Blood Angels curse is found after the chapters founding, could it have been used as a neutral gene-seed?

After the Black rage starts to manifest, would a punishment(set a task) / imprisonment /hiding them from =][= be a good way to deal with this?

Ie. Marine gets thrown into a fully enclosed cloister with small forge and given metals in which they have to create a thousand [insert item] before they can be released within [insert period of time]. This helps them to channel their rage and control it. After, passing they are inducted into an honoured order. If they fail... Bolter shell to the head.

Getting defeated by a much smaller naval/planetary force and having their home system invaded by Orcs/losing a principal forgeworld while following Codex protocol. Then due to their honour being tainted and ridicule from fellow chapters be enough of a trauma for a chapter to go codex deviation/loyalist rogue?

Would not have them be children of Vulkan. There weren't even enough of the Salamanders Legion to make a single full strength Chapter at the end of the Siege of Terra.

Also the idea of a tech-priest bringing Raven Guard gene-seed along to confound them does not work, as it is equally as valuable as Salamander gene-seed.

The mutations of the Raven Guard only occurred after the Heresy when Corax started his experiments to expedite the creation of Space Marines, before that they were normal. So there would be no mutations from that gene-line.

The ability to breath fire is a perfect way to have an entire army of counts as combi-weapons.

But more than anything I would not, nor ever consider, giving them their own STC unit. If any faction in 40k ever got their hands on anything but the merest scraps of uncorrupted STC data they would take over the galaxy with contemptible ease. Humanity used to bestride the galaxy like a race of immortal dark and twisted gods, reshaping worlds and moving stars around on a whim. and all the knowledge of those dark and glorious days were held in the STC units. For instance the Imperium once found an STC design for a primitive tractor to be used in the very earliest days of setting up a colony, a stop gap measure of laughable crudity, they stuck a turret on top of it and now it is found from one end of the galaxy to the other under the name of the Leman Russ variant tanks. And that crushing hammer of the Emperor was a civilian blueprint. Imagine what horrors an actual military level blueprint would unleash?

The Reaver Class Battle Titan is one such machine, one of the very few pieces to remain nearly whole from the Dark Age of Technology. Imagine lots of weapons like that, each one capable of laying waste to entire armies in minutes. That is the level of technology man used to spread and conquer the stars, before the Dark Age of Technology, when everything was lost.

EDIT: Magos Arkham Land's discovery of two scraps of STC technology gave us the Land Raider, perhaps the most valuable piece of military technology in the current millenium; as well as the Land Speeder, one of Mankind's last remains capabilities in hover technology. Both of which were scraps, not a whole STC.

The Tech-Priest bringing Raven Guard gene-seed does not make much sense when you look at it.

Tech-Priest : Hmmm... you know something about this doesn't seem right.

Servitor: *continues working*

TP: I know I'll bring Raven Guard gene-seed. They will be totally pissed when they find out it is the wrong gene-seed.

S:* finishes task and awaits new orders*

TP: Ya that will be totally hilarious.

S: * Stares blankly at Tech-Priest*

TP: Omnissiah, you are boring once you are mind wiped.

8th Founding:
Founding: ... 8th [circa mid-m.34]
The earliest extant record likely to pertain to the Mantis Warriors can be found in the Libris Gloriana - a seven-hundred and seventy-seven volume treatise on the state of Imperial power commissioned for the ascension of High Lord Gogol after the Nova Terra Interregnum in 093.M36. The massive accumulation of knowledge in the Libris Gloriana represents a rare resource, but one that has been repeatedly suppressed and censored, and many doubt its veracity in general. Further difficulties in the text are raised by the particularly obscure dialect of High Gothic in which the treatise is written, which had been popular at the Terran court of the time. It mentions in bombastic terms a Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes "...warrior legion of the Mantis (or 'prophecy', the language is unclear)" of the 8th Founding (which would place its origins in the mid M34) of "...the line of the great Khan, by his sons the Marauders".

thank you for that link

hmmm this is interesting.. maybe the time line looks something like.. educated guesses in italics

2nd Early m31

3rd Early m32

4th Mid m32

5th Early m33

6th mid m33

7th Early m34

8th Mid m34

9th Early M35

10th Mid M35

That would place my best found as 4th or 5th founding.
