Army Painter Sprays

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I was browsing gifts for geeks when I found the army painter sprays. I'd like to ask you guys what the sprays are like, coverage, the amount in the tin etc. I'm particulary intrested in info on the Desert yellow spray since I'd like to one day strip and repaint the Imperial fists I got at a GW auction and doing the yellow on 100 + marines by hand would kill me.

Thanks for any info.

Well, I've recently begun to use the black spray that Army Painter does for my undercoats and I'd say the product works fine. It doesn't tend to hang in the air like the GW stuff does and has a slightly tighter spray-cone. The drying time may be a little longer than GW sprays but that's neither here nor there for me - a few extra seconds isn't anything to worry over.

I've never tried any of their other colours so I can't help you in regards to your specific query. Sorry.

I've used Pure Red for a while now and my only complaint is actually on the quality of the can/nozzle. I've often found that the nozzle stays depressed after you let go of it which results in a bit of a mess as well as wasting paint.

The paint itself however is fanstastic and I really don't want to contemplate painting Blood Angels without it these days.

I've started using Pure Red for my Blood Angels when I got sick of doing several coats of Blood Red over GW's white spray. Honestly, I prefer GW's sprays - they seem easier to use (this may just be the particular can of Pure Red that I have but it seems to need re-shaking much more frequently in order to get an even coat) and I'm not a fan of the slightly rough feeling that the Pure Red seems to have to it.

Unfortunately, GW don't do a Blood Red primer, so Army Painter it is - the colour is a perfect match, at least.

I've used their Dark green to basecoat and prime my Angel of Redemption, and I like it. It is more expensive, but I am combining the basecoat and prime into one step. Also, the amount I got out of the can was a little disappointing. I only got 2 land raiders, 2 dreads, 1 razorback, 16 terminators, 11 marines, and 10 scouts out of the can. It may sound like a lot, but I can prime twice as much with my Rustoleum Black Primer and still have some left over. Don't get me wrong, it is a great product, and I'll buy it again.
