Lemartes Conversion

Looks pretty good all round. A couple of small points - the good old 'drill out the barrel' of the pistol. Also, depending on your ability to replace it, I'd consider shaving off his Templar icon at his waist. Could be nicely replaced with a green stuff blood drop or a skull - if you have any spare banner poles from the tactical squad you could cut the 'face' off it and see if it'll fit.

Stealing the skull from the banner is a stroke of genius cheers RebG. I have an issue drilling out barrels... i have way too many projects on the go at the moment and all of them with deadlines lol so I will be drilling every single barrel at some point but itll have to be a final touch unfortunately :S

Hey guys,

I did not like the balance of the model so I replaced the bolt pistol with a book... the books pretty big so im still a little unsure.. What do you guys think better or worse?

I think that the BP was massively superior in terms of looks. The book is far too big and imo even if smaller would work less well - especially as he isn't looking at it. It also feels more like a Librarian thing to me ( I know thats a bit obvious but still is what I would think! )
I actually have a ton of other "books" i could use either grey knight ones from the Storm Raven kit or the small ones from the dark angels sprue.. I think what I really need to do is get a straight arm for a bolt pistol and have it down at his side that should fix the composition issue what do you guys think?
I've been looking for skull head bitz to kitbash some Chaplains. Where did this one come from? And what are some other good sources?

This one comes from the Chaos Warrior sprues. The only other alternatives I can think of are heads from the Chaos SM sprues, some of which will need the chaos arrows etc scraped off.

Cool Lemartes, I really like the pistol in the last pic, it really opens up the model and makes it look balanced. Stick with it if you like it! :D

If you wanted to go for the 'book' thing, maybe some scrolls or a small book attached to his waist would be the way to go, I couldn't really see Lemartes reading from a book ;)

In terms of the templar symbol, the bannertop idea from RebG works quite well at the waist (I have put one on my Termie Chaplain) or you could leave it...

Maybe a few grenades or something too? :)

I'm looking forward to seeing him painted!!

Yours in Honour, Faith and Blood,

Chaplain Hiltraud

One thing to consider for future projects is trying to get the flow of the mini pointing in the direction it's moving.

If you look at the tabard, it's swinging to the left, implying the mini's turning right - but the arm and head are both pointing to the left.

Similarly, the right foot should be pushing to the right, but it's pointing straight ahead, so it looks like he's about to trip up a little bit.

Lovin' the paint on the wings and Crozius. ;)

@ Brother Jazzman - Yeah I think I have learnt a few things from this model.. recently I have been trying to get the composition more dynamic and balanced with this I made some poor choices.. I have never been happy with how hard he seems to be leaning on his right leg it has pushed the balance too far over..
